NEW DELHI, May 3: Dog bites are increasing by the day, people fond of feeding the strays compounding the menace. Nobody can prevent an attack as it happens all of a sudden. On Thursday, the strays mauled a six-year-old girl at a residential society in Noida's sector 70. The public protests and forgets till the next bite. Pets are also leading to frequent confrontations between their owners and neighbours in housing complexes in the National Capital Region as the dogs pose a major threat to the residents' safety.

Two fall sick after consuming food from Noida restaurants
NEW DELHI, Apr 30: Two customers reported sick after consuming adulterated food from Noida eateries. One fell sick after taking an aloo tikki burger and french fries from McDonald's in Noida Sector 18. In the other case, a woman fell sick after consuming a stale pineapple cake ordered from Theobroma bakery in Noida Sector 104. The Food Safety and Drug Administration Department officials have collected samples from the outlet.

PONTIAC (Michigan), Apr 28: Here is a case that sets a precedent to help prevent the epidemic of mass shootings in the US. Certainly! James and Jennifer Crumbley, parents of Ethan Crumbley, 15, who shot dead four students and wounded seven others in Oxford High School in Oakland County on November 30, 2021, were each sentenced to over 10 years in prison on April 9 after a jury in an Oakland County courtroom in Pontiac, Michigan, convicted them of manslaughter. Ethan was sentenced to life in prison without parole on April 5 - the first minor to receive a life term without parole. This is a rare case of parents being punished for crime committed by children. Judge Cheryl Matthews said the sentence should be a deterrent to stop school shootings in the future.

DUBAI, Apr 17: Dubai police rescued a cat from floodwaters as the Emirate was hit by a historic torrential rain and storm on April 16. The cat was clinging to the door handle of a car in a flooded road. The deluge had flooded the streets and the Dubai International Airport, disrupting travel by road and air. Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia also received the torrential rain, apart from the whole of UAE.

After riding water slides, a young man dies: What do the docs say
NOIDA, Apr 9: Dhananjay Maheshwari was 24 and as fit as a fiddle, his father claimed. He enjoyed the thrill of going down like a bomb through the water shoot in a Noida (Delhi-NCR) water park but soon felt uneasy and collapsed. Taken to hospital, he was declared dead. Autopsy could not determine the cause of death.

Water park: The water flows down from the top of slides. As water reduces friction, sliders move down the slides very quickly and run into a plunge pool. There are so many frills too, adding amusement to the excitement in a water park.

Chopping comes to England: Metson to be sentenced on Monday

Food supplements kill 5, hospitalise over 100 in Japan; Recalled

TOKYO, Mar 30: Five people in Japan are believed to have died and more than 100 hospitalised with kidney problems after eating cholesterol-lowering food supplements. Three over-the-counter supplements made by Kobayashi Pharmaceutical (Beni Koji, NaishiHelp, and Natto-kinase) have been recalled. The pills contained red yeast rice or 'beni koji', rice fermented with monascus purpureus, a reddish-purple mould.

Frontier makes emergency landing as bad odour fills cabin, one injured

CHARLOTTE (North Carolina), Mar 29: A Frontier Airlines flight, Airbus A321neo, taking off from Charlotte Douglas International Airport for Orlando, Florida, made emergency landing and 226 passengers on board were evacuated on Wednesday as bad odour began filling the cabin. One passenger was injured. In October 2022, an American Airlines flight from Miami for Barbados was evacuated on the tarmac due to a 'chemical' odor from a passenger's carry-on baggage.

Abhinandan and Parnita, of Pune, probably slipped from snow into a gorge and died. Alpha kept barking to draw others' attention!
