The Brazilians are well-known for their flamboyant culture and their carnival dance is the most exuberant manifestation of fun, gaiety, music, dance and self-expression. The troupe put up a one-hour show with elaborate costumes, plumes, exciting music, pyrotechnics, lasers and sound effects that almost matched a grand carnival scene. For most of these dancers, it was a privilege to perform in India. The second half of the show was dominated by dance performances by eminent Indian models and actresses who danced to the tunes of popular Bollywood numbers. The Brazilian performers were full praise of Bollywood dancers. "Nothing much is similar (between Bollywood dancers and them). Only the kind of movement like sway of the hips is similar to the dancers of Bollywood," said Henna, a Brazilian dancer. Among the Indian dancers, popular model and actress Malaika Arora Khan and Yana Gupta stole the limelight. Rolling Stones sweeps Mumbai off its feet (Go To Top) Mumbai, Apr 8: The Rolling Stones presented their second and final show here on Monday in the jam-packed Brabourne stadium. The heat was oppressive. Mike Jagger teased, cajoled, aroused and sang to an audience of 20,000 fans who had come from various parts of the country. The band got tremendous response from the film-crazy crowd of the city. For most of the die-hard admirers, it was a dream come true. "I, am a fan of Mick Jagger. So well it's the same thing ... I think its a nice thing because we need different kinds of music happening. Because you cannot have that same kind of old music - pop and things like that. Rock I think is something very old and it has come back, it's nice. I see a lot of young people listening to it which is a nice revolution I guess," said an ecstatic Rolling Stones fan. Government restrictions and a weak economy kept major rock groups inaccessible to Indians in the 1960s and 1970s, when the Stones were in their prime. Their Asian tour had to be cut short with cancellation of shows in Hong Kong and China, following a health scare due the deadly severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) that has so far killed 100 people worldwide, mainly in Asia. Both Indian shows were advanced by a week as a result of the mystery pneumonia virus. The group's first Indian concert was staged on Friday in Bangalore. The Stones will perform in Bangkok on April 10, two days earlier than planned. The Asian tour had to be cut short with cancellation of shows in Hong Kong and China, following a health scare due the deadly severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) that has so far killed more than 80 people worldwide, mainly in Asia. Both Indian shows were advanced by a week as a result of the mystery pneumonia virus. The group, travelling with a 150-strong entourage and more than 200 tonnes of equipment, arrived from Singapore on Tuesday. After Bombay, they are scheduled to perform in Bangkok on April 10, two days earlier than planned. Rolling Stones Happy to be in India (Go To Top) Bangalore, Apr 2: The Rolling Stones, the group that likes to call itself the world's greatest rock'n roll band, has said that "they were pleased to eventually be in India." The band members, who arrived here on Tuesday night, will present two concerts in the country. The lead singer Sir Mick Jagger, the eccentric guitarist Keith Richards along with Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts, interacted in fine-tuning with a full house media at a press conference.
