Bomb University Office in Kathmandu KATHMANDU: Suspected Maoist rebels exploded a powerful bomb at the central office in Tribhuvan University, five km from here, on Friday, November 29. None was injured in the blast. According to reports, the bomb planted by the rebels exploded at about 5.55 am on the ground floor of the three-storey university building. The entire central office was shaken, damaging the financial administration section. The explosion also damaged some furniture, doors and window-panes. But no damage was caused to the Vice-Chancellor's room situated on the same floor. On Thursday, the rebels had exploded two bombs at the Institute of Advanced Communication and Education Research (IACER) and at Higher Education Council office building at Sanothimi in Bhaktapur district. KATHMANDU: Fourteen people died and 10 were injured when the bus in which they were travelling fell 200 metres into a mountain gorge on Monday. The injured were taken to a hospital in Pokhara, a town located west of here. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle near Thulekarki village, 250 km north-west of Kathmandu. He was allegedly driving reckless on a hill road which was poorly maintained. Rebels Storm Two Nepali Towns: 118 Killed JUMLA (Nepal): About 3,000 Maoist rebels stormed the town of Jumla, 600 km north-west of Kathmandu, and used villagers as human shields during a night-long gunbattle. Ninety-five people, including 55 guerrillas and 37 security men, were killed in the fighting there, the defence ministry said in a statement. One top bureaucrat and two civilians also died. In another attack 23 policemen were killed when the rebels struck a police post in Gorkha district, 150 km west of Kathmandu. The assaults followed a national strike called earlier this week by rebels who are battling to topple the monarchy and set up a Communist republic in the impoverished Himalayan kingdom. 3 Hurt KATHMANDU: Three persons were injured following an explosion at the headquarters of the State-run Royal Nepal Airlines here on Saturday, November 9. According to the police, the explosion damaged the windows of the building of the airlines office, which is situated in the heart of the Capital. The injured were immediately taken to a nearby hospital. One person was killed and two were injured on Friday when suspected Maoist rebels set off a bomb near a State-owned telecommunications tower east of here, the police said
