be under Madonna's spell. According to the Star magazine,
the 39-year-old star supposedly left her seat at a recent
Madonna concert to get a bottle of water, but when she noticed
that the line was too long, she ran back after announcing
that she was missing too much. She later sent a friend back
to get her the bottle of water.

York: Several hip-hop artists, including the likes of
P Diddy, Jay Z and Mariah Carey, are expected to team up
with rap mogul Russell Simmons, to rally against America's
drug laws which they consider harsh and unjust. According
to the New York Daily News, the singers, who will be lead
by Simmons, will march to Madison Square Garden, in New
York, on August 30 this year, when the Republican National
Convention will take place. AIDS Group 'Still We Rise' and
the New York Civil Liberties Union will also join the singers.
They are also going to campaign against the fact that most
of the people arrested for illegal possession of drugs are
either coloured or poor. "Ninety-four percent of the people
who go to jail under the laws are black and brown and poor.
There's a lot of prosecutorial discretion, but there's zero
judicial discretion," the report quoted Simmons as saying.

Veteran actress Meryl Streep has revealed that she based
her character of a ruthless senator in her new movie "The
Manchurian Candidate" on former British Prime Minister Margaret
Thatcher, reports Hello magazine. Her role in the movie,
which stars Oscar winner Denzel Washington as a Gulf War
veteran and Streep as an American senator who will go to
any lengths to hide the truth, was initially believed to
have been based on senator Hillary Clinton. "I thought of
Margaret, and your mother and any woman you're terrified
of!" the report quoted Streep as saying. The movie is a
remake of the 1962 classic starring Frank Sinatra and Janet
Leigh.

Washington: Actors Jennifer Garner and Michael Vartan
are reported to have split, though neither of them has confirmed
this news as yet. According to Star People, Garner, 32,
and Vartan, 39 have not been an item on the party circuit
for some time. Witnesses told the paper that Vartan was
recently at the LA hotspot Joseph's flirting with a group
of women. "He was being flirtatious with some women. He
never goes out to clubs when he's dating and certainly hasn't
since he's been with Jennifer. So it was sort of weird to
see him out," an associate of the French-born actor was
quoted as saying. A representative of Vartan, however, denied
the break up with Garner, but her spokeswoman said she wouldn't
like to comment on her client's personal life. The `Alias'
co-stars raised eyebrows when they began dating last year,

A female accused of stalking Hollywood icons Catherine
Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas may be imprisoned for at
least 20 years, if the former's lawyer is to be believed.
Dawnette Knight, accused of 24 stalking charges, has been
given a reprieve till Monday (July 26), when the judge is
likely to rule in favor of the Douglas's. "She was infatuated
with a movie star. She's facing 19 years in state prison
for being foolish. She's learned a very valuable lesson
that will make her a good woman and a major asset to society,"
Ananova quoted her lawyer, Richard Herman, as saying. The
32-year-old stalker is believed to have sent sinister death
threats to Zeta Jones and made a bogus claim that she had
an affair with Michael Douglas. Knight is currently in prison,
having failed to pay up a bail of 600,000 pounds.

quits. News of their spilt was imminent as the two had publicly
fought during the launch of Hilton's Heiress Records Label
in New York. According to Eonline, representatives for both
confirmed news of the split on Friday. "This is the time
of my life, I'm back in the studio, ready to go on tour
with the [Backstreet Boys]. I want to be free to date other
people, and I got tired of all the rumors," Carter was quoted

debut. The British actress will star in a production, to
be staged by legendary director Peter Hall, at the Duke
of York's Theatre. In the play Kim will play Claire, a sculptress
whose spinal cord is smashed in a car crash, leaving her
a quadraplegic. "I won't be able to move from the neck down
and that was part of the challenge, to be playing this incredibly
free physical spirit who was in the prime of her life,"

After ditching Hollywood to settle down in France, Hollywood
actor Johnny Depp is now shelling out a whopping 4.7 million
dollars to purchase a house in the picturesque British village
of Rye, East Sussex. According to Star magazine, the 'Pirates
of the Caribbean' star spotted the property while on a trip
to Britain. The three-story bungalow boasts of a swimming
pool and seven bedrooms. He will reportedly move in there
with his French girlfriend Vanessa Paradis and their two
children. The town is also reported to be a favourite with
Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and wife Jennifer Anniston, who
are looking to move in their after they have children.

Dame Helen Mirren's lead role in the new film "Elizabeth
and Essex" will involve a certain amount of nudity. According
to the Mirror, Dame Mirren had stripped for "Calendar Girls"
last year. She had also bared all in the 1979 film Caligula
and later in the 1989 hit The Cook, The Thief, His Wife
And Her Lover. "Nudity is so easy. In essence it's like
drinking a glass of orange juice on the set," she was quoted
as saying in an earlier report. According to the Mirror,
the "Prime Suspect" star will feature as the 58 year-old
monarch who had a steamy affair with the Earl of Essex.
The Earl was later executed at the Tower of London for treason.
The actor for the role of Robert Devereux, the Earl of Essex
has yet to be cast. "It's a fantastic love story which ends
with the man being beheaded - it doesn't get more exciting."

is not likely to give up so easily "It's true that we are

Singer Courtney Love surrendered herself to a Los Angeles
police station on Friday, in connection with an arrest warrant
issued earlier this month after she failed to appear for
a hearing on a felony assault charge. According to a police
spokesperson, Love turned herself in at the Los Angeles
Police Department's Wilshire station, where she was booked
and then bailed out within half an hour for a sum of 150,000
dollars. According to Eonline, Los Angeles Superior Court
Commissioner Dennis Mulcahy had earlier issued a warrant
against Love on July 9, saying at the time that he found
"no legal excuse" for her failure to appear on a "serious
matter." The singer will remain free until Aug. 20, when
she's due to be indicted on an assault charge stemming from
an alleged April attack on another woman at the Los Angeles
home of Love's ex- boyfriend and onetime manager.
