Bikini clad tax inspectors to uncover tax frauds (Go To Top)

     London: Sexy female tax inspectors reportedly pose as bikini clad holiday makers to expose tax frauds at beachside bars in Italy. Tax authorities have admitted that they have sent the undercover female tax agents to the tourist region of Liguria to see if bars and restaurants were issuing customers with proper receipts. News website Tgcom.it reported the trial project has been such a success, it will now be expanded to the rest of the country. It is estimated the state loses millions of pounds a year in tax frauds by companies which do not give out proper receipts to customers.

Jolie's son calls Brad dad (Go To Top)

     New York: Actress Angelina Jolie's son Maddox has reportedly got very close to actor Brad Pitt, calling him daddy. According to America's US Weekly magazine, Maddox stared to cry during the shooting of an Edwin Jeans commercial with Angelina Jolie, saying "Where's my daddy?" Brad, who is alleged to be having an affair with Angelina and wants to start a family with her, first met the three-year-old on the sets of 'Mr and Mrs Smith and has, since then, grown very fond of him. A few weeks ago, he was seen teaching the Cambodian orphan how to ride a bike. The actor had a secret desire of parenting Angelina's new adopted daughter,Zahara Jolie, but could not have his name on the adoption papers, as his divorce with Jennifer Aniston is not yet final, New York Post quoted the report in US weekly as saying.

Lachlan Murdoch's 7 million dollar golden handshake (Go To Top)

     Sydney: Media baron Rupert Murdoch's eldest son, Lachlan, is likely to receive a payout of almost seven million dollars when he quits all his executive posts in his father's empire at the end of this month. The sum includes his 2005 salary from News Corp and a bonus likely to be five to seven million dollars. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the payout terms have been filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. The documents, however, reveal that Lachlan will not be allowed to compete with News Corp for two years and that he must make himself available to advise the company for the same period. And after the two years, he cannot "directly or indirectly induce or attempt to induce any senior employee of the company or its affiliates to engage in a competitive business". It quoted Greg Baxter, a spokesman for News Ltd in Sydney, as saying that Lachlan will have his own office at the company's headquarters in Sydney. The conditions of Lachlan's payout were set out in a letter on July 28 sent by Andrew Knight, the chairman of News Corp's compensation committee.

Another Mukhtar Mai gangrape case (Go To Top)

     Lahore: With the echoes of the gangrapes of Mukhtar Mai and Dr Shazia Khalid still reverberating, the gangrape of another young girl, much on the lines of the Mukhtar Mai episode, has come to light in Pakistan. This time, a young girl named Amna, was gangraped by four influential people of Alipur, Muzafargarh, and the local police authorities were reluctant to initiate actions against the accused, as local MPAs and MNAs were backing them. Amna's brother Hashim said that a girl named Mehtab Mai, the sister of one of the accused, Ghulam Mustafa, came to their house, asking Amna to accompany to her home. Upon entering the house, the four accused Ghulam Mustafa, Khizar, Muhammad Tariq, and Abd-u-Shakoor who were hiding inside, kidnapped Amna Mai, took her to a desolate place three kilometres away, and gangraped her throughout the night. It was only the following day that Amna's family recovered her, reports The Nation. With no help coming from the local courts and police, Amna and her brother are now seeking justice from NGOs to redress their grievances. Hashim said that at first the police officials at Sadar Alipur did not register the case. However, after repeated visits to the station, police registered a case only after the SHO extorted Rs 10 thousand and the Assistant Sub-Inspector Ahmad Bux pocketed Rs four thousand as bribe. Amna said that she had also appealed to the IG of Punjab Police to take notice of the incident to ensure justice to her.

Harry Potter's encounter with Scary Spice lookalike (Go To Top)

     London: Harry Potter will battle it out with a mermaid who looks like Scary Spice in the new movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. According to the Sun, the schoolboy wizard has the fright as he tries to rescue pal Ron Weasley in the movie. Harry played by Daniel Radcliffe, 16 - faces the Mel B lookalike during an international magic contest. Harry has to swallow magic weed to help him swim to the bottom of Hogwarts Lake where the Merpeople holding Ron lurk. Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire - based on the fourth book in the series and is due on November 18.

Pitt and Jolie's steamy spa sessions (Go To Top)

    London: Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt and Tomb Raider star Angelina Jolie reportedly had a relaxing session at a posh desert spa. Jolie reportedly flew Brad to the remote resort in her own two- seater plane o Arizona's deluxe Westin Kierland Resort from Brad's Malibu home. "They arrived dressed very casually in T-shirts and jeans but they still looked incredible together. An insider at the exclusive retreat was quoted by the Mirror, as saying. "They were amazingly relaxed in each others' company," he added.

J Lo chooses family over career (Go To Top)

     New York: Jennifer Lopez is reportedly thinking of giving up her acting and singing career, as she wants to enjoy her life living at home with her family. The Latina beauty, who is pregnant with husband Marc Anthony's child, believes that one cannot do justice with both job and home simultaneously, and is prepared to quit work to become a successful wife and mom. "Either you are going to be a bad mom and be a really good career woman and wife, or a good mom and career woman and bad wife, or a good mom and a good wife and your career is going to suck," Rate the Music quoted the hot mama-to-be as saying.
