Austrians flock to Hogwarts style school post Pottermania! (Go To Top)

     London: Pottermania, it seems has soared to new heights in Austria, following the release of the sixth Harry Potter book. A Hogwarts style college in Klagenfurt, Austria has said that it has received enormous number of applications for a six-semester witchcraft and wizardry course, since the release of 'Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince'. "The phone has been ringing all the time since the new book came out," the school headmaster and grand wizard Dakaneth, also known as Andreas Starchel was quoted as saying. According to Fox News, students at the college after undergoing the six-semester course in "all things related to witchcraft and wizardry by scientific methods" earn a Veneficus Certificate. Sorcerers' apprentices, aged 17 and above, who attend the school are taught astrology, magic, history of magic, meditation and divination. Later they put their theoretical studies into practice for preparing potions, making talismans and performing rituals. The school's website apart from offering a variety of courses over the Internet, also provides study aides like protective charms, aura cleansing incense, talismans, amulets, tarot cards and rune stones, the report said.

     London: Hollywood star Vince Vaughn, who is alleged to have slept with his 'The Break Up' co-star Jennifer Aniston, has denied claims of having a romantic relationship with the actress. Though, rumours of their romance are circulating around the sets of 'The Break Up', hunky Vince has denied, he is dating Jennifer, and has insisted that they are just good friends. "Jennifer's a sweet girl but she's very vulnerable right now and has been through a really hard time I know people would love it if we were dating, but we're not," femalefirst quoted Vince as saying. Jennifer's spokesperson has also rubbished the rumours. The former 'Friends' beauty was spotted sneaking back to her suite at the Peninsula Hotel in the early hours of the morning, after spending an evening at the Four Seasons hotel in Chicago, where Vince is staying.

Scarlett Johansson could never have had sex in elevator (Go To Top)

     London: Scarlett Johansson has claimed that she could never have had sex in an elevator at Los Angeles' Chateau Marmont hotel with Benicio Del Toro, even if she wanted to, because the hotel's lifts are too small to have sex in it. "If you've ever been in a Chateau Marmont elevator, you'll know.You can barely stand, let alone do anything like that," Femalefirst quoted her as saying. "I'm not one for sex in public places - save it for the bedroom," she added Scarlett, who is currently dating actor Josh Hartnett, now fears that she will have to live the rumour for the rest of her life. "I never had sex with Bencio Del Toro in an elevator. But I'll be answering that question for the rest of my life," she said.

Lifestyle, diet can arrest prostate cancer: Study (Go To Top)

     Washington: A University of California study has calimed that intensive changes in lifestyle and diet may help in arresting the onset of prostrate cancer in males. The study, which will appear in the September issue of the Journal of Urology, quoted Drs. Dean Ornish and Peter Carroll as saying that comprehensive changes in lifestyle and diet decreased the incidence of prostrate cancer. Ornish, Carroll and other members of the research team arrived at their conclusions after putting 93 males with biopsy-proven prostate cancer under observation who chose not to avail conventional treatment .

Over-supply of blood sugar can cause erectile dysfunction (Go To Top)

     Washington: An over-supply of a simple blood sugar could be a major cause of erectile dysfunction in diabetic men, reveals a new study by researchers at the Brady Urological Institute at Johns Hopkins. According to the research published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the researchers found that one particular simple sugar, present in increased levels in diabetics, interferes with the chain of events needed to achieve and maintain erection and can lead to permanent penile impairment over time. "We were interested to determine whether high glucose in diabetes mellitus modifies the endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) enzyme, which is responsible for the achievement and maintenance of erection," says Biljana Musicki, the lead investigator. Erectile dysfunction is a common problem for more than half of men with diabetes.

Julia Roberts rejoins work (Go To Top)

     Washington: New mum Julia Roberts has finished the shooting of a music video, her first project after giving birth to twins earlier this year. Julia plays a woman shadowed by a man played by rocker Dave Matthews in the promo for DREAM GIRL. According to contactmusic.com, the actress reportedly acted for free as she was allowed to take breaks to look after her nine-month-old twins, Phinnaeus and Hazel. The video was shot in Harlem and at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens in New York. It will be released later this year.
