Pak terrorists to assassinate US Prez  (Go To Top)

Washington: Pakistan may be a principal US ally after Britain in the global "War against Terrorism," but Pakistanis, it seems are the latest villains as far as Hollywood is concerned, after the WWII era Nazis, and Cold War era Soviets. The latest Hollywood flick Dreamz apparently shows Pakistani suicide bombers trying to kill the US president. While Pakistan has a very negative image and post 7/7 it has only got worse, it's understood that calling the movie a "black comedy" will not lessen the impact on the portrayal of "Pakistani terrorists" as the new evil guys of the West. Paul Weitz, the writer, director and producer of the flick however denied reports that the script was being revised after the July 7 London bomb attacks. "The plot of my film has not changed, nor is a change being contemplated. The film is a comic examination of our cultural obsessions and how they can anaesthetise us to the actual issues of our day," the Daily Times quoted Weitz as saying The film stars Hugh Grant, Dennis Quaid, Willem Dafoe, Chris Klein, Mandy Moore, and a squad of "Pakistani terrorists."

Julia Roberts may bid 'goodbye' to Hollywood (Go To Top)

London: Hollywood actress Julia Roberts may reportedly quit acting after appearing on Broadway next year, so that she can spend time with her kids. According to sources, the star, who recently appeared in a music video for the first time after giving birth to twins, Phinnaeus and Hazel, last November, has reportedly wrapped up her last movie. Friends claim that the actress has had enough of acting, and wants to enjoy time with the twins and husband Danny Moder now. "Julia is done with Hollywood and starring in a Broadway play is the chance to make a graceful exit. She's been talking about leaving Los Angeles and stopping the movie roles ever since the twins were born late last November. She wanted a change of scenery, a change of pace and a new challenge," femalefirst quoted a pal as saying to the National Enquirer.

No chocolates for kids in Charlie's chocolate factory (Go To Top)

London: Kids who brought sweets with them to enjoy watching a screening of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory were left disappointed after cinema staff confiscated them. According to The Mirror, staff at Derby's Showcase multiplex impounded the confectionery after they swooped on a queue of youngsters to check their treats. The complex's doors each have a small notice which warns: "Patrons are not permitted to bring any outside food or drinks in." "This guy said 'Let me see in your bag'. Some kids cried when the same was done to them. It's bad they expect you to buy all your sweets off them as they are overpriced," a kid was quoted as saying.

Gulliver's Travels was originally a pornographic novel (Go To Top)

London: A Russian book publisher has claimed that the original version of Gulliver's Travels was a pornographic novel, and features the protagonist in steamy encounters with 6 inches tall Lilliputians, or working as a sex toy for 60 feet giants. The Erotic Adventures of Lemuel Gulliver, which is to go on sale in Moscow book stores this weekend, will be marketed by Neonilla Samukhina from St Petersburg, who said that she bought the version from the Ford family, who were descendants of a close friend of author Jonathan Swift. "They had tried in the past to get it published but had never been believed that it was genuine, and I was sceptical, but historians have authenticated the age of the material and even style of writing," Fox News quoted her as saying. The book reportedly has Gulliver describing how Lilliput women give him and themselves sexual pleasure.

Bill Murray is back as Garfield (Go To Top)

Washington: Bill Murray is back as the voice of Garfield after he lent his voice for the first "Garfield" movie. According to Zap2it, the movie titled "Garfield 2," will be directed by Tim Hill and also feature Billy Connolly and Lucy Davis. Breckin Meyer has signed on to reprise his starring role as Jon Arbuckle and Jennifer Love Hewitt will also be back. While Davis will play animal lover Abby Westminster, with Connolly appearing as a villain named Lord Dargis. The film's bad guy appears to be a not-so-subtle reference to New York Times film critic Manohla Dargis, who called the first movie a "soulless excuse for entertainment."

Keira Knightley digs men with good shoes (Go To Top)

London: Hollywood beauty Keira Knightley who recently split from her Irish model boyfriend Jamie Dornan, has laid down the rules for potential suitors interested in winning her heart. "I'd go for someone who is a little bit brooding and somebody you can have a good conversation with, a good fight with, who will always keep you guessing and make you laugh. And he has to have good shoes," she was quoted by the Mirror, as saying. Knightley and Dornan split up after a two year long relationship, and although the "Pirates of the Caribbean" beauty has suffered a massive heartbreak yet she is keeping her options open. "We all need romance in our lives but marriage and living happily ever after is not something I think about at the moment and certainly won't for a while. "But who knows. It's a nice dream," she added. And Keira still has romantic dreams for the future. "My mum doesn't like engagements so as long as I never get engaged, then I can get married," she said.
