President Kalam released from hospital  

     New Delhi: President APJ Abdul Kalam was today released from the hospital after undergoing a non-surgical treatment for his fractured shoulder bone at the Army Research and Referral Hospital. According to a Rashtrapati Bhawan spokesman, the President was discharged from the hospital at 10:30 a.m. and was thereafter driven to the Rashtrapati Bhawan. He was treated with a non-invasive corrective procedure for his fractured shoulder at the Army hospital on Monday. He had to undergo treatment after falling down during a walk in the herbal garden in the Rashtrapati Bhavan premises.

School boy abducted in Amritsar (Go To Top)

     Amritsar: Paramvir Singh, an 18-year-old school student, was abducted late on Monday night from Amritsar by four unidentified persons, who were reportedly in police uniform. According to his family, Paramvir was kidnapped as he was about to start his car to go for his daily tuition at Majitha. The abductors even took away the car in which Paramvir used to travel. He is a student of the local DAV Public School. No phone call or message has been received from his abductors so far.

Seer case: Yet another accused booked under Goondas Act (Go To Top)

     Kancheepuram: Another accused in the Sankararaman murder case has been detained under the Goondas Act. The latest accused to be booked under the Act is 'Silver Star' alias Stalin, he was detained under the Act by Kancheepuram District Collector R Venkatesan. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case served the detention orders to Stalin, who was lodged in the Chennai Central Prison today. Now, with the new detention, the total number of those detained in the case under the act has gone up to 16. As many as six of the accused have been detained in the last four days alone. The act is usually invoked against habitual ffenders. The act does not allow the detainee to seek bail before one year. Twenty-five persons, including Sankaracharyas Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijayendra Saraswathi, have been listed as accused in the case.
