Brosnan's 22 million dollar bid cost him Bond role (Go To Top)

     London: Pierce Brosnan was reportedly asked to step down as the British double agent James Bond because he demanded an exorbitant sum of 22 million dollars for continuing in the thriller series. According to the Telegraph, the actor has never disclosed the sum that he wanted for the 21st Bond blockbuster, Casino Royale, saying that it was "an honest fee in terms of how much blood, sweat and tears I put into the role". He spoke of being "surprised, disappointed and saddened" at the way the axe came down. Peter Bart, editor-in-chief of Variety, said the word was that Brosnan "had priced himself out of the market" with a rumoured "compensation package" that "would total north of 40 million dollars."

Nicole Kidman ends romance with Steve Bing (Go To Top)

     London: Aussie beauty Nicole Kidman has split with her producer boyfriend Steve Bing. The 'Hours' actress had been dating Bing, Elizabeth Hurley's ex flame and the father of her son Damien, since the past four months. According to the Sun, Kidman reportedly told pals she had to finish her romance with the millionaire film producer because he was against marriage.

Coimbatore man wants to eat 50 cockroaches a minute (Go To Top)

     Coimbatore: Strange as it may seem, but 26-year-old Ramesh Kumar loves eating live cockroaches. A goldsmith by profession he likes to eat all kinds of insects. It is a habit nurtured since childhood. Wherever, he finds cockroaches he eats them immediately. Now, Ramesh Kumar is aiming to set a record of eating 50 cockroaches in a minute. He wants his name to be registered in the Guinness Book of World Records. "From my childhood days I was very crazy about playing with lizards, cockroaches and other insects. I do not have any kind of fear from them. One day I tried to taste a cockroach and I liked it very much and thought of making a record by it. Then I came to know that a man has eaten 36 cockroaches for Guinness Book of world records so now I am practicing to eat more than 50 cockroaches in one minute", said Ramesh. According to Ramesh, a live cockroach tastes better than any other insect. Now he is trying to set a record by breaking eggs with his fingers folded upside down. "I am also practicing to break eggs with my fingers folded upside down. So far only four eggs were broken by a man from Europe. Now I am trying to break around 25 eggs with one hand with folded fingers. My next plan is to stay in a room with 25,000 cockroaches for three days. I am practising for it and I want to break the record. Other plan is to stay in a two feet length and one foot high small glass box for one day," said Ramesh. Ramesh hails from a poor family and says that his only intention is to enter the Guinness Book of World Records.

     London: British actress Elizabeth Hurley is trying to pick up Hindi quickly to impress her Indian boyfriend, Arun Nayar, fuelling rumours about the duo's possible marriage this summer. Hurley has dated Nayar since 2002 and frequently travels to his home city of Bombay. "She loves everything about India and thinks she should learn some Hindi", Female First quoted one of Elizabeth's pals, as saying. Friends of the Austin Powers star claim she's planning to exchange wedding vows with Nayar in India's vibrant capital in June, coinciding with her 40th birthday.

     London: Pop sensation Jennifer Lopez, who recently tied knot with Marc Anthony, her third husband, says, she is just afraid of lonliness and darkness. "I'm fearless in that I'm not afraid to throw myself into things. In other words, I'm a big baby. I'm afraid of silly things, like the dark, Ananova quoted Lopez, as saying. "I'm also very afraid of.... How can I put this? Maybe it's because I'm from a large family, but I developed this thing where I don't want to be alone. So I'm afraid of that", she added.

     London: Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has been voted the sexiest ever super heroine. Jolie fulfilled all men's fantasies by bringing the sexy computer game character of Lara Croft in "Tomb Raider" to life in 2001 and won almost a third of the votes in the poll. Her voluptuous curves and body-hugging outfits made Lara Croft the ultimate cyber babe and set pulses racing across the world. Jolie is followed by super-fit Jennifer Garner who bagged 16 percent votes for her role as Electra. Prince Harry says it with roses on Valentine's Day (Go To Top)

     London: Prince Harry expressed his love for his girlfriend Chelsy Davy by sending her a dozen red roses with the message "Missing You" on Valentine's day. The couple have not met each other since the past two months as Harry has been grounded by Prince Charles, at his Highgrove estate, for wearing a Nazi uniform to a fancy dress party. "They have both found it tough being apart. This is Harry's way of letting her know he is thinking of her," a close friend of the couple was quoted by the Sun, as saying.

Charles' civil marriage will be legal, say experts (Go To Top)

     London: Amidst speculations regarding the legitimacy of Prince Charles' civil marriage to his long time companion Camilla Parker Bowles, Clarence House has stated that the marriage would be legal. Doubts had been cast on the legitimacy of a royal civil marriage after legal experts examined current legislation, reports the Daily Mail. "Legal advice was taken from four different sources and all agreed that it is legal for a member of the Royal Family to marry in a civil ceremony in England," a Clarence house spokesperson said. "The marriage is valid and Camilla would be Queen," he added.
