George Michael says goodbye to pop (Go To Top)

     Washington: George Michael has decided to say quits to pop singing. The 41-year old singer, who had created a rage with numbers like Faith, Father Figure and Kissing the Fool, was quoted by ratethemusic.com as saying that he was of the view that pop music is "dead". "That genre (pop) is just dead as far as I am concerned. I truly believe there's a life for me that is not this one. Perhaps it will mean writing for other people. I have an ambition to write a truly contemporary musical, not necessarily even for the stage, but for the screen. I have got to find ways to make music and enjoy it the way I used to," Michael was quoted as saying. Michael now plans to compose music for other musicians and write celuloid-related scripts. He revealed his plans at the Berlin Film Festival in Germany, where he launched a documentary film titled "A Different Story" that traces his struggle in life before attaining stardom in the 1980s.

Naomi has done it again (Go To Top)

     London: Super model Naomi Campbell, who has by habit never made it on time as far as attending events are concerned, did so again when she turned up for her catwalk at the London Fashion Week on Monday almost an hour late. Reportedly Campbell was booked as the star attraction at the show put on by the fashion house, Gharani Strok, but kept the organisers and the guests waiting. "By the time her agent had talked her into coming, everyone had been waiting for her for ages. We were almost at the point of going ahead without her",Female First quoted Gharani Strok co- designer Nargess Gharani as saying. "I was thinking to myself that she just wasn't worth the hassle. However, when Campbell did arrive she was "very apologetic indeed", she added.

Brad Pitt hated Aniston's chain smoking (Go To Top)

     London: Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt hated Jennifer Aniston's chain-smoking and spoke of Angelina Jolie as a 'goddess', claims an American model. "He hated his wife's chain-smoking. He also hated the fact that she liked to hang with her friends or just stay at home. He liked to go to parties more," the US Weekly quoted April Florio as saying. "He talked about Angelina like she was a goddess," she said. The model, who claims to have spent three days with Pitt in Greece, also said that Pitt had tried to kiss her but she shied away. "He was shocked. He asked me why. I told him I did not want to get involved with someone in the industry," the report quoted her as saying.

    Washington: Soon after the Grammy's Jennifer Lopez cancelled her plans to attend the British charity premiere of her movie "Shall we Dance?" with Richard Gere, citing an unspecified illness. "I very much wanted to be in London today, but unfortunately I am not well. At the advice of my doctors, I am unable to travel," E- Online quoted Lopez as saying. Reportedly Lopez's "not well" status have sparked up rumours of her being pregnant.

'Manchester United' is still the planet's richest football club (Go To Top)

    London: Manchester United, with stars like Wayne Rooney, has emerged as the world's richest soccer club for the eighth successive year in 2004. According to a report, the club's income was an estimated 171.5 million pounds in 2003-2004. Meanwhile, Chelsea - currently on course to win four trophies this season - look most likely to oust the No.2 ranked Real Madrid, which had an income of 156.3 million pounds.But Chelsea's success has come at a heavy price, with a pre-tax loss last year of 88 million pounds. "Having devoured two thirds of Man United's revenue lead in one season, Chelsea will not think overall leadership is beyond them", The Sun quoted the Deloitte Football Money League report as saying. AC Milan are No.3 while Arsenal, raking in 115 million pounds, climbed to the sixth position. The Blues have shot up six places in soccer's rich list and are now in the No4 slot with a turnover that has rocketed a staggering 62 per cent from 93.1million pounds to 143.7 million pounds last season.

George Lucas to do a cameo in new 'Star Wars' movie (Go To Top)

     London: 'Star Wars' director George Lucas is all set to make a cameo appearance in the upcoming film of the Star War series. 'Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge Of The Sith', which is supposedly last film of the series, is due for release in UK in May. According to Ain't It Cool News, Lucas will appear very briefly as Baron Papanoida in the opera house scene, and there is a possibility that his scene could end up being edited out. If Lucas does go ahead with the appearance, he'll be following in the footsteps of Peter Jackson who recently immortalised himself on screen in all three of his 'Lord Of The Rings' films.

Pitt and Clooney in Robin and the 7 Hoods (Go To Top)

     London: The Ocean's Eleven duo of George Clooney and Brad Pitt is reportedly teaming up again for another gangster movie. The two, are planning to remake the 1964 mob movie Robin & the 7 Hoods. According to film gossip website MOVIEHOLE.NET, Clooney has bought the rights to the film. In the original, Frank Sinatra and Peter Falk played the feuding Chicago, Illinois, gangsters. The film also featured Martin, Davis Jr and BING CROSBY.

Crowe and Kidman flee the Eucalyptus tree (Go To Top)

    London: Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe's Australian film venture Eucalyptus has been postponed indefinitely due to problems with the script. The 13 million pound film's set in New South Wales, which was an attempt to boost the flagging Aussie film industry, has been dismantled and crew members have been dismissed, reports the BBC. "We have agreed that the best thing to do is postpone shooting until the project's foundation is solid," said the film's stars in a statement. "We are confident that when the time is right this dedicated Australian production team will once again find a way to be on board," continued the statement issued by Crowe, Kidman and the film's director and producer.
