'Puss in the boots' silver screen debut

     Washington: The popular animation 'Puss In The Boots' will soon make its big screen debut . Antonio Banderas will lend his voice to the popular character for the animation which will be released straight to theatres and on DVD. Banderas has the action sequel "Legend of Zorro" up his sleeve this November. He's also working with "Take the Lead," based on a real-life pro dancer who creates a new dance style combining ballroom and hip-hop dancing styles. The DreamWorks project has hired David H. Steinberg (who wrote the "American Pie 2"), to pen the screenplay about the other "annoying talking animal" reports Zap2it.

Beyonce to sing for Webber at Oscars

     London: US pop star Beyonce Knowles will perform a song from Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber 's film at the Oscars this Sunday. Lord Lloyd-Webber, who previously won an Academy Award for Evita, has been nominated for the track Learn To Be Lonely, which closes his film which is an adaptation of The Phantom Of The Opera. Beyonce is reported to have demanded several improvisations in the song for the performance to suit her voice. "I'm going to be playing the song for Beyonce, which is going to be quite fun," The Sun quoted Lord Lloyd-Webber as saying to BBC Breakfast. "She's terrific. She does it slightly differently, with an orchestra", he says about Beyonce. "To be even nominated for an Oscar is extraordinary. We were very lucky the first time round, I'm not so sure about this one. I've been very excited about working on this film, because young people are being turned on to musicals on film," he added. The next film project of his will be Sunset Boulevard, which he expects, may pioneer a new genre for the silver screen.

Baz Luhrmann comes up with his own Alexander (Go To Top)

    NewYork: Filmmaker Baz Luhrmann scrapped movie "Alexander the Great" is to be made after the disappointing response to Oliver Stone's 'Alexander'. The veteran producer Dino de Laurentis brought back into use the picture,after stone's "Alexander" starring colin Farrell and Angelina Jolie failed to attract the masses. Nicole Kidman and Leonardo Di Caprio would be in the title role "The film will be made in one year and will be the Alexander that everyone has been waiting for and Stone's picture was missing the spine of a screenplay," Laurentis, 85, was quoted by the New York Post as saying.

A tub of ice cream helped Vin Diesel bulk up (Go To Top)

     London: Actor Vin Diesel ate a tub of ice cream a night to put on extra weight for his role as a chubby gangster in upcoming movie 'Find Me Guilty'. The XXX star said that he had to scoff a pint of ice cream every night to bulk up for his role as real-life hood Jack DiNorscio. "It was a tough job. A lot of people didn't recognise me," The Sun quoted Diesel as saying.

Eric Benet sings an apology to Halle Berry (Go To Top)

     London: R'n'B star Eric Benet has said that his new album contains a song that offers an apology to his former wife Halle Berry. Benet, who split from the actress last year after admitting that he had slept with a string of other women, says that he wrote the tune to apologise to Berry for cheating on her, but she has heard it all before. "I think somewhere along the way, she's heard everything. Maybe she hasn't heard the songs, but she's heard everything I have to say," Femalefirst quoted Benet as saying to American TV show 'Access Hollywood'.

     London: Model Sofia Vergara may be his new love interest for now but the real lasting passion in Tom Cruise's life still remains Scientology. The actor had earlier said that he learned to overcome his learning disability through Scientology. After "Top Gun" released in 1986, Cruise became a Scientologist and discovered the ``Study Technology'' the religion's founder, L. Ron Hubbard, developed in the 1960s. The 42 year old actor is so devoted to this much talked about interest of his that he is reported to have set up a Scientology tent with an on-site minister on the set of his forthcoming film, 'War Of The Worlds'. "It's a gift from Tom to the crew", Mirror quoted his sister and spokeswoman Lee Anne De Vette as saying.

Catherine Zeta Jones' bum obsession (Go To Top)

     London: Hollywood beauty Catherine Zeta-Jones has confessed she is obsessed with the size of her bottom. Jones who starred opposite Brad Pitt in Ocean's Twelve, shed an amazing four stone in 12 weeks after her daughter Carys's birth in 2003 but still craves reassurance from actor hubby Michael Douglas. "I have some insecurities," she says, "I'm always asking him if my bum's too big," the actress was quoted by the Mirror as saying.
