Kuwait donates 400,000 dlrs to PM's relief fund

      New Delhi: The State of Kuwait has joined the International Community lending a passoniate hand to the victims of the killings Tsunami which is perceived as one of the worst Devastative Natural Catastrophe. According to a press release, his Excellency Khalaf Abass Khalaf Al-Foudari the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to India handed over a cheque of 400,000 dollars to Honorable E. Ahmed the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, as a Donation offered from Kuwait Red Crescent Association to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund.

Pak cricketers reach out to tsunami victims (Go To Top)

     Lahore: The Pakistan cricket team has decided to donate as charity 25 percent of their match fees from the ongoing Test against Australia at Sydney for the sake of tsunami victims. The donations would be made to a relief fund set up by Pakistan President Pervez Musharaf. PCB director Abbas Zaidi told reporters in Lahore. He further said that all board employees would also donate one day's salary towards the relief fund. "We will also be organising a charity match between the Pakistan team and the Rest of Pakistan in February and proceeds from sponsorship, gate money etc would go to the fund," Zaidi said. The cricketing world has come forward in a great way to extend help to tsunami victims across Asia. A charity match between a World XI and an Asian XI will be held on January 10 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, followed by a similar match in Asia. All funds raised from these two matches would go for carrying out relief work in tsunami-hit areas. Several cricketers, including Murlitharan of Sri Lanka and Parthiv Patel of India, have actively taken part in giving donations and distributing relief material among the victims. Patel had recently donated Rs two lakh for the purpose.

Sharon Osbourne donates 190,000 pounds for tsunami victims (Go To Top)

     London: Sharon Osbourne certainly believes in charity for sure, as she has pledged a donation of 190,000 pounds towards the plight of the Asian tsunami disaster victims. According to Female first, she had initially donated 47,500 dollars, but decided to give more after watching endless "heartbreaking" news reports. "There are really no words to describe how devastated we are to see this unfold. This is just heartbreaking - donating money is the least we can do. We have been watching all the terrible news coverage and we wanted to give some more money. Our hearts go out to all those affected," she was quoted as saying.

U2 make an effort to mobilise funds for tsunami victims (Go To Top)

     London: Rockers U2 have stood up to the cause of the victims of the Asian Tsunami and are encouraging fans to donate money to various charities to help raise funds. According to Female first, the members of the band are asking for donations to be made for the men, women and children left homeless, starving and at risk from disease in the aftermath of the catastrophe. The U2 website gives links are given to numerous charities including The United Nations World Food Programme and The American Red Cross.
