Ashok Tanwar is new Youth Congress chief

     New Delhi: Ashok Tanwar has been made the new Indian Youth Congress (IYC) president. Congress spokesman Abhishek Singhvi today introduced him to the press in the Capital. Tanwar succeeds Randeep Surjewala, who was recently given the responsibility of Haryana Congress working president ahead of the forthcoming Assembly polls in the state. Speaking to the press, Tanwar (29), a JNU student, said his topmost priority would be strengthen the party in those states where it has marginal presence, especially Uttar Pradesh. "After Rahul Gandhi coming into active politics, my first priority would be strengthen the party in Uttar Pradesh," Tanwar told media persons. He further said that he will also address the problems faced by the youths in the country.

ESL Narasimhan appointed IB director (Go To Top)

     New Delhi: ESL Narasimhan, IPS (AP: 68), currently Special Director, Intelligence Bureau, has been appointed as Director, Intelligence Bureau with effect from 01.02.2005. According to a press release, Narasimhan will succeed AK Doval who is superannuating on 31.01.2005.

Pak immigrants granted Indian citizenship (Go To Top)

     Jaipur: More than 150 Pakistani nationals were granted Indian citizenship at a special ceremony held in Jaipur on Friday. The event is a part of a special drive to give legal immigrant status to more than 5,000 Pakistani nationals who have migrated to the state over the past few decades. Most of them are Hindus, who left because of alleged discrimination but many Muslim women, who married into Indian families, have also been given the citizenship under the scheme.
