Taj case in SC's court, CBI ready to close

New Delhi: Everything in the Taj Heritage Corridor scam involving former UP CM and BSP chief Mayawati and seven others, now depends on the Supreme Court. As the CB has decided to close the scam case, it is now up to Supreme Court's observation. "Whatever decision is taken in this matter, we will hand it over to the Supreme Court in a sealed envelope," said Umashankar Mishra, CBI Director. The CBI is planning to file the closure report soon. The central agency will request a competent Lucknow court to close the case, but that would be only after the Supreme Court comes out with its observation. The CBI in the multi-crore scam gave a clean chit the Dalit Queen on Friday. Reportedly, Attorney General Milon Banerjee recently gave his opinion that the evidence so far collected by the agency against Mayawati was not fit to send the case for trial.
