Madonna gets honoured with a 'Blue Peter' badge (Go To Top)

     London: Pop icon Madonna has become the latest in the long line of celebrities to get honoured with 'Blue Peter' badge, which is given to the members of the 'Blue Peters' club. The badge, which has also been given to the likes of Britain's Queen Elizabeth and actor Brad Pitt, was given to her after she filmed an interview on the famous British children's TV show to promote her fourth book 'The Adventures of Abdi,' reports Female First. The interview, which shows her talking about her experiences while writing the book and testing it on her children will be aired on BBC. "I wanna be a member of the 'Blue Peter' club. Yes! I've got a badge, I've got a badge," the report quoted her as saying.

Chris Martin narrowly escapes death (Go To Top)

     London: Coldplay rocker Chris Martin had a narrow escape when his plane almost crashed on a charity trip to Africa. Martin was approaching Tamale Airport in Ghana on a trip for the fair trade charity he works hard to support earlier this month , when the plane carrying him hit a dust storm. "We were coming into land. Once a year, for a week, all this dust blows over from the Sahara Desert. You could not see a thing. I couldn't see the ground and nor could the pilot. I found out we were about 200 metres up. The plane dropped off violently to the right, then way off to the left. It was lurching all over," the singer was quoted by the Femalefirst, as saying. "It was so terrifying.My mind was racing and I thought, 'My daughter will have to get a stepdad.'I thought, 'I've written a will. The band haven't finished the album but they know how I want to finish certain songs.I then thought, 'I'll be dying on a fair trade trip so people will always link me with that.' All these things were going through my head.But somehow the pilot pulled it off and landed. I don't know how he did it. I was convinced he wasn't going to. It fired me up for the trip. I thought, 'I'm going to learn as much as I can and meet as many people as possible," he added.

Liam Neeson to play Abraham Lincoln (Go To Top)

     London: Liam Neeson might soon be playing the celebrated American President Abraham Lincoln as the actor is currently in talks with director Steven Speilberg to take on the lead role in the film, which will follow the US leader as he guides the North to victory in the Civil War. Neeson, who has earned an Oscar nomination for playing Oskar Schindler in Spielberg's Schindler's List, is said to be the director's favourite for the role, reports Femalefirst. Spielberg, was keen to make a movie about Lincoln since 2001, when the rights to the upcoming biography The Uniter:The Genius of Abraham Lincoln were brought by Dreamworks.

     London: England soccer skipper David Beckham has lambasted his critics, and rubbished reports that his parents are having a 'cold war' with his pop star wife victoria's parents. Beckham also denied that he was addicted to fame, and claimed he never set up photo opportunities for paparazzi. The Real Madrid midfielder went on to say that his divorced parents Ted and Sandra had never had a problem with Victoria's parents Jackie and Tony. "They've all been treated equally. People have tried to say I bought my father-in-law this or that car and something smaller for my mum and dad but that's just not true," The Sun quoted Beckham as saying. "There was supposed to have been an argument between my mum and Victoria's mum about preparations for my birthday. When that happened we were all sitting down together and laughing as it was hysterical. I've always been close to my mum and dad, and always will be. They are the reason I am where I am today. My relationship with them will never change," he added.

Sarah Jessica Parker to star in 'Shrek III' (Go To Top)

    London: Sarah Jessica Parker of 'Sex And The City' fame is all set to star in animated sequel, 'Shrek III'. Sarah is pretty keen to replace her role as a commentator on modern adult life with the opportunity to provide a voice for the upcoming cartoon follow-up, due for release in 2006. "I am delighted to be doing a role that my children and friends' children will be able to see," femalefirst quoted Sarah as saying.

Keira Knightley loves running half-naked in tattoos (Go To Top)

     London: Keira Knightley has revealed that she loves running around half-naked, covered in tattoos, for her new film 'Domino'. The teenage 'King Arthur' star, however, said that she wouldn't undergo the painful body art in real life. "I like the tattoos but I'm glad to wipe them off. They look sexy but I wouldn't want them for real," femalefirst quoted Keira as saying.

Nicole Kidman makes a massive pay-cut on her next film (Go To Top)

    London: Aussie actress Nicole Kidman has reportedly decided to boost the flagging Australian film industry by accepting a paltry 300,00 pounds for her new film 'Eucalyptus'. According to Femalefirst, the actress will reportedly take home less money than her make-up artist. Meanwhile, the 37-year-old actress, who is set to present a prize at this year's Oscars ceremony, has been assigned a personal bodyguard to protect the bag, which is said to be worth more than 20,000 pounds, given to her by event organizers.

    London: Paul McCartney's wife, Heather Mills, has confessed she regrets ever meeting him, as she hates being in the limelight. The beautiful blonde, who married the former Beatle in 2002, says the incessant media coverage surrounding their relationship has become so intrusive she yearns for her life before Paul. Heather is reportedly tired of prying journalists and wants her private space. "I feel as though I am stuck in prison and then eventually they go after someone else and I am allowed out on probation. There have been loads of times I have regretted meeting Paul because I was so happy in my old life," the former model was quoted by Femalefirst, as saying.

Britney Spears to star in Madonna's animated movie (Go To Top)

     London: Pop queen Madonna has reportedly persuaded Britney Spears to appear in the animated film version of her children's book The English Roses. According to the Femalefirst, Madge pleaded with the 'Toxic' singer to voice the story's heroine Binah and Spears was eager to accept. Madonna will herself voice the Fairy Godmother in the tale of a girl excluded by a group of schoolmates who are jealous of her beauty.

BAFTA announces list of nominees (Go To Top)

     London: The who's who of Hollywood seems to be up against each other at this years' Baftas to be held on February 12 at the Odeon in London's Leicester Square. According to The Sun, Kate Winslet has landed two best actress nominations for her performances in Finding Neverland and Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind. While Leonardo DiCaprio is nominated for best actor for his role as eccentric movie mogul Howard Hughes in The Aviator.
