     London: Natalie Portman is reportedly planning to bunk the Oscars because she is too nervous to attend the star- studded glitzy ceremony. Natalie, who is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her new movie 'Closer', has told friends that she is too intimidated by next month's glamorous ceremony to turn up. "She doesn't like the glitz and glamour. She almost didn't make it to last weekend's Golden Globes because she was panicking about what she was wearing. The Oscars is ten times worse," femalefirst quoted Natalie as saying.

    London: Actress Natalie Portman has revealed that she will bid adieu to Hollywood after a couple of years, reports femalefirst. Natalie, who has a degree from the prestigious Harvard University said, "I've never been a person who says this is the only thing I'll ever do. "Acting is interesting to me right now, but I know how much I change," added the 'Leon' star.

Peter Jackson set to make movie on another bestseller (Go To Top)

     Washington: After the huge sucess of 'Lord of the Rings', Peter Jackson, is all set to cast his movie magic on another best-selling novel as the director has reportedly optioned the feature film rights to Alice Sebold's 'The Lovely Bones'. Published in 2002, "Bones" is told from the point of view of 14- year-old Susie Salmon, who is looking down from heaven after her brutal rape and murder at the hands of a neighbour. Both she and her surviving family struggle with the reality of her death and what it means in the years to come. "It's the best kind of fantasy in that it has a lot to say about the real world.You have an experience when you read the book that is unlike any other. I don't want the tone or the mood to be different or lost in the film," Jackson was quoted by Zap2it, as saying.

Britney asks Madonna to be godmother! (Go To Top)

     London: Britney Spears has reportedly asked Madonna to be godmother to her not-yet-conceived firstborn. The singer, who is said to be desperately trying for a baby with husband Kevin Federline, became a great friend of Madge after she introduced Britney to the mystic Jewish faith the Kabbalah over a year ago, reports the Femalefirst. Britney has since then called Madonna her pop idol and Madge too has been gifting the young star with lavish gifts including a 900-year-old Kabbalah book worth thousands of pounds.

'Remington Steele' forced Brosnan to turn down bond role (Go To Top)

     London: Pierce Brosnan has revealed that he was devastated after being had to turn down the role of James Bond in the mid-80s although he later went on to star as the fictional spy in four Bond films. According to Femalefirst, he was under contract to popular detective series 'Remington Steele'. "I was shattered. I remember stopping the car along a quiet part of the highway and letting out a long scream. It had suddenly hit me that I had missed out big-time but you have to get on with things," he was quoted as saying.

Ben Kingsley is no longer married  (Go To Top)

     New York: Sir Ben Kingsley and his third wife, Alexandra Christmann, are officially set to be separated after 15 months of marriage. The "Gandhi" star's rep confirms to us: "For some months now, Ben and Alexandra have been leading separate lives. The separation is very amicable, and they remain very fond and very close," New York daily news quoted his representative as saying. The duo got married in October 2003 but the relationship's end became apparent when a German tabloid ran a photo of Mrs. Kingsley kissing Sammy Brauner, the son of German movie producer Atze Brauner.

Hugh Jackman bookies' favourite for James Bond (Go To Top)

     London: Hugh Jackman has emerged as a bookie favourite to become the next James Bond, with bookmakers tipping him to take over from Pierce Brosnan. Leading British bookmakers Ladbrokes and William Hill are offering odds of 2/1 on the actor, ahead of 'Closer' star Clive Owen and third favourite Ewan McGregor. "Hugh Jackman certainly appears to be the punters choice but we've seen more twists than the average Bond movie. At one point or another, Colin Farrel, Colin Salmon, Dougray Scott, Eric Bana and Ewan McGregor have been subject to serious support for the role," a Ladbrokes spokesperson was quoted by The Daily Mail, as saying. A decision on who will replace Brosnan has been delayed while a power struggle wages between Bond movie makers the Broccoli family and MGM over who should be offered the role. "Who takes on the role could well depend on who comes out top in the power struggle behind the scenes.If the Broccoli family win we could well see an unknown actor, while if the money men have their way we could see a top star in the role.Last year, a source told us that the producers had a list of ten actors that they were looking at," the spokesman added.

Britney named biggest-selling female artist of century (Go To Top)

     London: Britney Spears has emerged as the biggest- selling female artist of this century as the singer's records have outsold all of her counterparts. Britney, who has even beaten Madonna , has been more successful than any of her female peers in the past five years. Even big-name stars including Kylie, Dido, Beyonce, Celine Dion and Whitney Houston have been overshadowed by Britney's soaring sales. "It really is extraordinary. Britney and everyone here are thrilled. To become the biggest selling female artist of the past five years was amazing, but to outsell Madonna over the past half a decade is beyond our wildest dreams. It just goes to show what a musical force Britney is," a spokesperson from Jive Records, was quoted by the Daily Mail, as saying.

Julia Roberts to play a spider (Go To Top)

     London: Julia Roberts is all set to take the role of a spider in a new film version of children's classic Charlotte's Web. This will be her first project since the birth of her twins, Hazel and Phinnaeus, two months back. The story by EB White is a mix of live action and animation and Roberts will voice Charlotte, who teams up with a girl to save their friend Wilbur, the pig. Oprah Winfrey will voice a goose, John Cleese a sheep and Steve Buscemi a rat in the movie directed by Gary Winick. Ten-year-old Dakota Fanning will play Fern, the girl at the centre of the story. The actor who will voice Wilbur the pig has yet to be revealed. An animated version of the classic was made in 1973 but this will be the first live action film and shooting is due to begin in Melbourne, Australia, later this month.
