Police said that the 40-year old temple official's body was found in a pool of blood inside the mutt's premises. This murder is the second such killing of a temple official in the area after the September 3, 2004 Sankaraman murder case. Srinivasachar was to leave for his hometown Patna following his mother's death. The person, who had to take the charge from Srinivasachar, Ramanji had stayed overnight in the mutt. He and a milkman reported the crime to the police when they saw the dead body with several wounds made by a sharp weapon. This mutt is just behind the Varadhrajaswamy temple whose manager Sanakaraman was murdered in September last. The Kanchi seers Jayendra Saraswathi and his junior Vijyendra Saraswati are the main accused in the Sankaraman murder case. North Indian pilgrims, mainly from Bihar used to stay in the Vaishno mutt during their visit.
