US says promoting democracy in Pak is part of its agenda

     Washington: The United States has said that promotion of democracy in Pakistan is part of its agenda. Talking to reporters here, Mark Boucher, the U.S. State Department spokesman, said: "We praised Pakistan's efforts as a front line ally of the US in the war on terrorism. We have always supported democracy and want to ensure sustainable democracy in Pakistan."

Serena wins Australian Open

     Melbourne: Serena Williams has won the Australian Open women's single title after beating top seed Lidsay Davenport 2-6, 6-3, 6-0 in an all-American final. Davenport won the first set 6-2, but then Serena came back strongly to win the second and the third set. The match was halted during the first set when Serena reportedly had a recurrence of her stomach injury.
