Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck tie the knot

     Washington: Hollywood stars Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, who are expecting their first child together this fall, surprised their fans and friends on Wednesday when they tied the knot at a resort in the Caribbean islands of Turks and Caicos. "They're married and they're expecting their first child," E!Online quoted a statement by representatives of the newly-wed couple, who spent their first night after the wedding at the Parrot Cay resort. According to the US Weekly, the couple is believed to be leaving to spend the weekend in Charleston, West Virginia at Garner's family home. Affleck and Garner first met on the set of their 2003 film 'Daredevil' and have been dating since then. They went public with their romance after being spotted cuddling at Boston's Fenway Park. While Garner's divorced Scott Foley in March 2004, Affleck's much publicized engagement to Jennifer Lopez ended shortly after the pair called off their September 2003 nuptials.

     London: Rap star P Diddy has persuaded Spanish actress Penelope Cruz to be the new face of his women's range, 'Sean Jean', due to launch this autumn. According to Fox News quoting the New York Daily News, the rapper was keen to get Cruz on board and met her in Madrid and New York for the same. And just two days back the 'Sahara' actress reportedly took part in a photoshoot for the fashion collection.

     London: Tennis sensation Maria Sharapova has topped a poll of men's favourite female tennis player of the last 20 years at Wimbledon. In the poll conducted by weekly men's magazine 'Zoo', the Russian youngster, who got 46 per cent votes, beat fellow Russian Anna Kournikova and 1980's star Argentine Gabriela Sabatini, who got 19 and 15 percent votes respectively. "Whereas Anna Kournikova had the looks but no game, Maria Sharapova has the lot. Not only is she the current Wimbledon Champion, but she has the looks and figure of a supermodel," Fox News quoted Paul Merrill, editor of the magazine, as saying.

     London: Socialite and hotel heiress Paris Hilton is all set to wed like royalty at Britain's Windsor castle, according to reports in the British media. The 24-year-old, who has taken the London party circuit by storm in recent weeks, apparently wants her wedding to have a distinctly regal touch. "I've always wanted to be a princess on my big day and only a wedding in England could make that happen," she was quoted by Hello magazine as saying. Paris had originally hoped to wed in one of the capital's famous cathedrals, but she had to write to Prince William after finding out only members of the British establishment can use those venues. "I've got my heart set on St Paul's or Westminster but I've had to write to the Prince to ask for dispensation as I don't qualify," she confessed. "I really want to get married at Christmas, though, as I'd love to have snow and log fires, so Windsor is a cool back-up. Prince Charles got married there so it's good enough for me," she added.

     London: A jar containing the 'air' of Hollywood stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie has been sold for 293 pounds on eBay by online casino company, GoldenPalace.com, which also put on sale Britney's pregnancy test. The ordinary quart-sized jar was brought to the premiere of the couple's latest movie 'Mr and Mrs Smith' in California, to capture their air as they walked by. "This is another perfect example of pop culture phenomenon. There is literally nothing in this jar except air, and it has made headlines all over the country and even overseas. The sheer weirdness and absurdity of this item has made it a marketing success," Fox News quoted Richard Rowe, CEO of the company, as saying.

     London: 'Basic Instinct' actress Sharon Stone may have been minting money in Hollywood, but the star is now bored of fame and fortune and says that family and friends are far more important to her. "The one thing I've learned over the years is that fame and fortune are so fragile. There are far more important things in life and I'm appreciating them now. I'm not saying I don't enjoy the attention of being an actress but there are many other things in life," femalefirst quoted her as saying to Now magazine. The Oscar-winning actress also said that she is happy to grow old gracefully and has ruled out plastic surgery. "I think like a young person and, although I try to keep myself fit and active, I won't be taking desperate measures like facelifts and plastic surgery. I'm a great believer in letting nature take its course and living with what I've been given," she said.

Lord of the Rings star to play Pope John Paul II (Go To Top)

     London: Lord of the Rings star Ian Holm will play Pope John Paul II in a TV biopic. Ian, who played Bilbo Baggins in the Tolkien trilogy, will star in a four-hour mini-series for US channel CBS. The 73-year-old actor will portray him from the time he was elected to the papacy in 1978 until his death, escaping an assassination attempt in 1981 and his diagnosis with Parkinson's Disease. A younger actor will play his earlier years, from his time as a student in Poland. Variety magazine said the script has been supervised by historians from the Vatican. The film-makers have been granted exclusive access to St Peter's Square and its surroundings.

Diana urged Charles to marry Camilla (Go To Top)

    London: Princess Diana reportedly urged her ex- husband Prince Charles to marry his longtime sweet heart Camilla Parker Bowles. According to the Princess' friend and confidante Simone Simmons, Diana gave the Prince frank advice after becoming firm friends with the Prince towards the end of her life, reports the Sun. Simmos has made a series of shocking revelations about the princess' life in her book 'Diana, the last word', including her affair with Kennedy Jr and her tryst with cocaine.

Macca, U2 to open Live 8 with Sgt Pepper's (Go To Top)

     London: Beatles legend Paul Mc Cartney will open his performance with Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club band, in conjunction with Irish rock band U2, at Saturday's Live 8 concert in London. According to Access Hollywood, U2 will also don colourful Sgt Pepper's uniforms for performing the Beatles classic. Officials also believe that the song is a fitting opener for the Live Aid (85) sequel, as it begins, "It was 20 years ago today...".

Britney to give birth in style (Go To Top)

     London: Pop babe Britney Spears who will deliver her first child in three months, is planning to give birth in luxury. She has reportedly reserved a room in a hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona as well as all adjacent rooms to ensure privacy. "Britney wants white and yellow roses in the room when she gets there. Britney also wants all the nurses serving her to be given background checks," a source was quoted by Star magazine, as saying.

Alicia Keys to star in Halle Berry's film (Go To Top)

     London: Alicia Keys has signed in to star in Halle Berry's upcoming film 'Composition of Black and White'. Keys will play the lead role in the movie, which is based on Kathryn Talalay's novel about inter-racial pioneer Philippa Schuyler. "I adore Alicia and there's nobody more perfect for it than her," Fox News quoted the 'Catwoman' actress, who will produce the film, as saying to Contactmusic.com. Meanwhile, Keys is very excited about her role in the film and said that it was a big honour for her.

Johnny Depp pressing Keith Richards for 'Pirates' sequel (Go To Top)

     Washington: Johnny Depp is trying hard to convince rocker Keith Richards to star in the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' sequel. Depp said that it would be a dream come true for him, if the 'Rolling Stones' star agrees to play his father in the film. "It's looking very good. I've talked to Keith about it and he's been super sweet and keen to do it and it's looking very good. We are just hoping that we can work out the dates with the Stones tour and everything, but, if that happens, you talk about a dream come true - get to be a pirate with Keith Richards? Does it get better than that?" Contactmusic quoted Depp as saying.
