Khalistan will be formed by 2007, claims former Sikh militant

     Chandigarh: Khalistan proponent Jagjit Singh Chohan, a former Sikh militant based in Punjab, today said that Khalistan, a separate Sikh state, will be formed by 2007. Chohan was addressing the media in Chandigarh. "Khalistan will be formed in 2007. Whatever may be the circumstances, states are formed with International circumstances and not by using arms. It will be formed and will be called a part of South East Asia," said Jagjit Singh Chohan. Chohan also said that the concept of Khalistan was also proposed by the tenth Sikh guru Guru Gobind Singh.

     New Delhi: BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley today denied the rumours that party's National Secretary, Sudheendra Kulkarni had resigned from the party post following attack from the Sangh Parivar over "misleading" BJP president L K Advani during his controversial Pakistan visit. When asked about the contents of the letter written by Kulkarni to party president L.K. Advani, Jaitly said that it is his (Kulkarni) own views.

Mastermind behind kidnapping stockbroker's son caught (Go To Top)

     Meerut: Rahul Tyagi, the mastermind behind kidnapping of Mumbai Stockbroker's 15 year old son Vaibhav Aggarwal was today held by Meerut police. Meerut police began unravelling the complex network under the supervision of Vipin Kumar Sharma, Inspector General of Meerut and nabbed the mastermind Tyagi. According to the police officials, Tyagi masterminded the kidnapping for easy money. "He masterminded this kidnapping because he bought a house and gave the initial payment of 50000 rupees to the seller. Then the seller started asking the remaining money , he asked his wife to take loan. As his wife was not entitled to take loan he masterminded this kidnapping. Other reason being that he was a contractor and wanted to make a quick buck like other contractors he masterminded it ," said Vipin Kumar Sharma, Inspector General of Meerut. The police worked on the information they received from different sources and the Rajasthan Police. " We had many leads to track him like his cell phone but the main lead was the white maruti Zen which was missing from the accused in laws house. We got information of the car being spotted at Saharanpur. We cross checked all the information and after Rajasthan police investigation we arrested him," added Vipin Kumar Sharma, Inspector General of Meerut. Jai Kumar, alias Bittu, Sanjeev and Rahul Tyagi are three main accused in this kidnapping. Rahul accepted that he was involved in the crime.

Eight Nepali Maoists arrested in Bihar (Go To Top)

     Patna: Eight Maoists from Nepal, including a woman, have been arrested today from a hospital in the Tirhut commissionary of Bihar. The activists, wounded in an encounter with Nepalese army, had fake identities to get medical treatment. "There are eight people including one woman. They all have gunshot injures which are clear. Some of them have admitted that they are Maoists and were injured during gunfire exchange with the Nepal police," said S.K. Bhardwaj, deputy inspector-general of police, Tirhat range. Nepal is caught in a three-dimensional power struggle among Maoists, King and democratic parties. Last month the Maoists set off a powerful landmine under a packed bus killing at least 38 people. They said it was a mistake and the attack had been aimed at the army.
