Potter fans urged to buy his recycled books

     London: Harry Potter fans in the US are being urged to buy the sixth book, Harry Potter and the half-blooded prince from Canada, where it is being printed on recycled paper. According to The BBC, the book will be published worldwide on 16 July, with a recycled version issued by Canadian publisher Raincoast Books. Vancouver conservation group Markets Initiative urged fans to buy the book online from Raincoast Books, which also published a recycled version of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. "Scholastic has failed to really meaningfully step forward to have Harry printed on the most environmentally friendly paper that it can be," Markets Initiative spokeswoman Nicole Rycroft was quoted as saying.

Jolie's adoption has nothing to do with Brad (Go To Top)

     Washington: The US weekly might have claimed that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were jointly adopting a baby boy together but Jolie's camp has denied any such rumours. "This has nothing to do with her relationship with Brad Pitt. People are going to try to say it's about their relationship. But it's not. Angelina's adopting as a single mother, and she wants that emphasized," Eonline quoted an insider as saying. However, US weekly later retracted the statement. "In some early editions of the July 18 issue, US Weekly inaccurately reported that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were adopting a baby boy together. Her new daughter is, in fact, a girl, and while Pitt was present when Jolie signed the adoption papers, he himself was not a party to the adoption," the statement reads. The duo went to Ethiopia to pick up Jolie's newly adopted daughter named Zahara Marley Jolie. Jolie's three-year-old son Maddox, whom she adopted from a Cambodian orphanage in 2002 also accompanied them.

     London: Tom Cruise's latest movie 'War of the Worlds' has been blamed for causing mass panic in Siberia, after the local people mistook a tornado for an alien invasion. Residents of the Khabarovsk region in Siberia, thought that an alien invasion was engulfing them, after freak winds started blowing, flattening trees and destroying property. Officials of the Emergency services blamed the fear of an alien invasion on the recent showing of the Tom Cruise epic. "It was a strange phenomenon and many people jumped to the wrong conclusion and believed it had been caused by alien space ships landing in the area", Fox News quoted Natalia Lukash, spokesperson for Russia's Far-Eastern Emergency Situations Centre, as saying.

     London: Hollywood actor turned Californian Mayor, Arnold Schwarzenegger has revealed that when he started his acting career, he was desperate to shake off his Austrian accent as directors thought that he sounded evil. The action star, whose accent has become an asset to him now, has admitted that he terrified movie moguls in the 1970s, as film- makers were prompted to recall the bad guys from World War II movies. "In the 1970s when they tested my accent for movies, 60 per cent of the people were scared. That's why I couldn't get a commercial. I was supposed to do a 7-Up commercial with LONI ANDERSON... but in the test, people always said, 'This voice gave me the chills.' I decided what I have to do is make people not afraid of it, so I would go to as many interviews as possible and get them familiar with my way of talking, and maybe then they would accept it. And at some point they will love it. It has turned out that it has become a big asset", Femalefirst quoted him as saying.

     London: Hollywood star Tom Cruise reportedly wants his fianci Katie Holmes to experience the thrill of piloting a plane. The 'Mission Impossible' actor wants to give Katie flying lessons, and though she is said to be a bit reluctant, she wants to give it a try to make Tom happy. "Katie's apprehensive but he could ask her to stick her head in the oven and she would do it," femalefirst quoted a source as saying. The couple got engaged last month after Cruise, 42, proposed to the 'Batman Begins' actress, 26, at the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

     London: Actress Katie Holmes has confessed that she is not ready to marry right now, and wants to enjoy her engagement to Tom Cruise for a little longer. "Everybody in LA says they never want to get married, well I don't want to get married right now, but I do want to grow old with somebody", Contactmusic.com quoted Holmes as saying. The 26-year-old actress started dating the Hollywood hunk in April this year, and after romancing publicly, Cruise had asked Holmes for marriage in Paris last month. Holmes would be stepmother to Cruise's children, Isabella and Connor, from his 10-year marriage to Nicole Kidman.

     London: Legend actor Marlon Brando had reportedly lured Marilyn Monroe back to his hotel, only to snub her, as blondes weren't his type. An autobiography written by pal George Englund 'Marlon Brando: The Naked Truth', has revealed that Brando could persuade any woman to come to him at a moment's notice. But despite Monroe's image as the ultimate male fantasy, Brando's association with her was short lived. "We were in New York. I said to him he could probably call any woman anywhere in the world and if he asked her to come over to the hotel, there was a high probability she would. Marilyn was staying at the Plaza Hotel across the street. He had never met her before but he phoned her, gave her a few chat lines, and she said she'd come. And they sat and talked about what it was like to be surrounded by people who wanted to say they'd slept with a movie star, not people who wanted to know the human being you were.     London: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie might have denied reports of them being in a relationship but if rumours are to be believed Pitt is getting a tattoo to please Angelina Jolie. .According to Femalefirst, Pitt will reportedly have an Arabic symbol inked onto his body. "Angelina loves tattoos and she convinced Brad to get one It's the Arabic symbol for energy," an insider was quoted as saying.

Drew Barrymore wants another 'Charlie's Angel' (Go To Top)

     London: Hollywood actress Drew Barrywmore says that another 'Charlie's Angels' film with co-stars Lucy Liu and Cameron Diaz, was a distinct possibility. The 'ET' star, who is romancing 'The Strokes' drummer Fabrizio Moretti, said that the three became very good friends while filming their first two movies, and that since they all still are the best of pals, they may just end up making another 'Charlie's Angels'. "All three of us still hang out all the time, so we might as well be filming it," femalefirst quoted her as saying.

     London: Hollywood beauty Angelina Jolie has finally adopted an African orphan but the Russian baby whom she had earlier chosen for adoption is still one of 170,000 unwanted Russian children, at an orphanage. According to the Mirror, Baby Glebb who could have enjoyed a luxurious life with Jolie in Hollywood is still waiting for adoption at Moscow's crumbling Baby House Number 13, after the authorities refused to give him for adoption to Jolie, who is a single mother. A director of the orphange revealed that the day the Hollywood actress visited the orphanage was chaotic with preparations to make the place presentable for her. "It was like a circus," he said. "As if we should all drop everything because this rich and famous American single mother needed a child," he added.

Natalie Portman's bald pate makes her terror suspect (Go To Top)

     New York: Hollywood actress Natalie Portman, who is sporting a tonsured head these days, is convinced that her new look makes her look like a terrorist. According to New York Daily News, the actress, who chopped off her locks for the upcoming "V for Vendetta," suspects that her new look was the reason police pulled her over by the Midtown Tunnel. "I've never had that happen to me before," she said. "It's supposedly random . . . My registration was expired because I had been out of town, and it was my first day back. I'd been in Israel and Berlin for the shooting. They wouldn't let me go in. But he said to take the bridge instead. And I didn't understand that logic. If you're a suspect, don't take the tunnel, take the bridge?" she added.
