Brad Pitt's flu blues

     Washington: Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt has checked into a hospital in Los Angeles after suffering from flu like symptoms. "He's fine. We think he has the flu,"Pitt's representative was quoted by Eonline, as saying. "They are just doing a couple of tests," he added. He declined to release further information about the actor's symptoms or location, citing security and privacy concerns, but she did say that he sought treatment Monday night and was expected to stay in the hospital through Tuesday. Pitt's hospitalization comes just days after he joined his Mr. and Mrs. Smith costar Angelina Jolie on a trip to Ethiopia, where she picked up her newly adopted daughter, Zahara. His publicist could not say whether the actor caught the bug during his visit to Africa.

Mariah Carey in a 'wardrobe malfunction' (Go To Top)

    Washington: In another incident of the now notorious 'wardrobe malfunction', pop singer Mariah Carey accidentally exposed her breasts on a German television talk show. However, the show's organisers quickly pulled the power switch, plunging the stage into darkness, after which Carey reportedly joked with the audience before darting off to fix her clothing. "Someone bring me a jacket or the show's off, we all know how quickly these images can spread around the world", Zap2it.com quoted 35-year-old Carey as telling MTV News.

     London: Hollywood hunk Tom Cruise did not hesitate in spending 10,000 pounds to fly his three favourite Italian cooks to South America for his 43rd birthday bash, even though they were 8,000 miles away. Cruise, who was determined to serve up the best food possible for his birthday party, held on a yatch moored off the coast of the Dutch Antilles, got the staff from his favourite restaurant, Dal Bolognese, in Rome. He was joined by fiance Katie Holmes and few friends for the bash. "We had a call asking about the availability of the chefs for Tom Cruise's birthday. Whenever he is in Italy he always comes to us",The Daily Mail quoted restaurant owner Alfredo Tomasell as saying. The cooks, who had been picked up by Tom himself, prepared a three-course feast of tagliatelle ragu, veal Milanese and chocolate tiramisu aboard the yacht, owned by the Church of Scientology, the religious group he follows.

Potter fans make a beeline for Quidditch Lane (Go To Top)

     London: Harry Potter fans are rushing to a village street because it is called Quidditch Lane, which is incidentally the game played on broomsticks by the boy wizard and his schoolmates at Hogwarts. Residents have even given their homes names from the wizard books including The Golden Snitch and Muggles. "We named it as a giggle," Julie Bignell, of The Quaffle, in Cambourne, Cambs, was quoted by the Mirror, as saying. But Quidditch comes from an old local farming term meaning dry ditch, and not the game invented by JK Rowling.

Smoke gets in Britney's eyes (Go To Top)

     London: Pop Babe Britney Spears had a major quarrel with her Hubby Kevin Federline, over the latters smoking and excessive drinking, especially during her pregnancy. According to Femalefirst, the couple had a huge bust up at the US premiere of 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'. "Britney told Kevin to avoid the free booze at the party and top lay off the cigarettes," a source said. "Kevin had a few glasses of champagne and a smoke and she just hit the roof calling him selfish," he added. Last week, Britney was warned she had to stop inhaling Kevin's second-hand cigarette smoke to ensure she had a healthy pregnancy New York medic Holly Phillips publicly advised the singer to avoid inhaling cigarette smoke, slow down in the bedroom and give up fast food to give herself the best chance of a 'normal' birth.

Sixth Potter book predicted to be year's best-seller (Go To Top)

     London: A new forecast by the Waterstone's book chain suggests that the adult edition of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is all set to become the best selling adult hardback of the year in the UK. According to The Telegraph, J K Rowling's sixth book is expected to sell 250,000 copies within 24 hours of its release at midnight on Saturday. It is expected to sell 10 million copies around the world within 24 hours of being released and help push JK Rowling's fortune towards 600 million pounds. The chain predicts that 30 per cent of total sales of The Half- Blood Prince will be of the adult edition - compared with 10 per cent for the last book. "The Harry Potter series has reminded adults how exciting good children's fiction can be. It has created a whole new category of fiction - Crossover Fiction - appealing to adults who have begun to enjoy reading children's literature," George Grey, children's manager at Waterstone's was quoted as saying.
