      London: Nicole Kidman is no longer the flame haired beauty she used to be, for she has gone brunette. According to Hello magazine, she underwent the transformation for her current project, Fur in which she stars as provocative photographer Diane Arbus, who became renowned for her photos of so-called "sideshow freaks". Robert Downey Jr costars along with her.

Bob Thornton has a phobia of dancers (Go To Top)

      Washington: Actor Billy Bob Thornton, who admits to fears of flying, antique furniture and former British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli's hair, has revealed that he has a phobia of ballroom dancers. "Just watching people dance is creepy," Contactmusic.com quoted him as saying. Bob said that he hates watching dancers because of a terrible experience in his school time, when a girl dragged him onto the dance-floor. "She got me by the hand and literally pulled me out on the dance floor... I literally stood there while she danced around me. I almost had a heart attack at 13 from just the pressure of that whole thing. Would you want to dance again after that? I'm not sure I could ever bring myself to do it," he said.

Scientists discover what causes heart failure (Go To Top)

     Washington: Researchers at the University of Alberta have found that during the early stages of heart failure, the heart uses too much fatty acid and not enough carbohydrate; and then, later on, the heart doesn't use enough fat. The team led by Dr. Gary Lopaschuk have determined how metabolic pathways differ between healthy and failing hearts. Normally, a heart derives its energy from a balance of fatty acids and carbohydrates, specifically glucose. "Many forms of heart diseases have many pharmacological therapeutic approaches to treat it. But heart failure is a difficult one. If you're diagnosed with heart failure, your five- year prognosis isn't that good. There's a high likelihood of mortality. So there's a major push to find new approaches to treat heart failure. Heart failure is not a situation where the heart completely fails, it is a condition in which the heart fails to provide even itself with enough blood under certain conditions," Lopaschuk added. "The heart has a huge need for energy. Everyone talks about the brain having a high energy demand, which it does, but the main energy user is the heart itself. Even though it pumps blood and oxygen around the rest of the body, the heart itself also consumes a huge amount of the oxygen that it takes in. And it's not unreasonable--it beats 24 hours a day," he concluded. July 24, 2005

Robert Luketic wore shorts and flip-flops at J Lo's wedding (Go To Top)

     London: 'Monster-in-Law' helmer Robert Luketic has revealed that he wore shorts and flip-flops at Jennifer Lopez's third wedding last year, because he thought that he was attending a barbecue. The Australian director said that he was shocked to be a guest at Lopez's wedding to Marc Anthony, because the actress had invited him for a 'little barbecue'. "She said, 'I'm having a little barbecue this Saturday, come over.' So I'm wearing shorts and flip-flops and I've got a bottle in my hand and I rock up and there are 18 helicopters hovering above," femalefirst quoted Luketic as saying. "I'm the only outsider invited to the wedding. Everyone was dressed beautifully. She just wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to tell. So I went in and I got drunk and I danced with the mother in my flip-flops," he said.

Clint Eastwood to appear in Gervais' show (Go To Top)

     London: Ricky Gervais wants Clint Eastwood and Sylvester Stallone to appear in his new show Extras. According to The Sun, Ricky plans to ask the stars at the Emmys in September. Ben Stiller and Kate Winslet are some of the stars that appear in the new show. "I'd love to get an icon such as Clint Eastwood," Ricky was quoted as saying.

     Washington: Jennifer Lopez has selected Chicago for her first stateside JLo boutique. According to Eonline, it will sell Lopez's namesake line, including clothing, accessories, cosmetics and fragrances from within a Marshall Field's store on State Street. Shoppers browsing at the store within a store might expect to find some of Lopez's preferred items from her ready-to-wear line, which include a white velour pants-and-jacket combo, hot pink cargo knit pants and a turquoise mesh ruffle tank top, according to the "Jennifer's Favorites" section of her ShopJLo.com Website. Andy Hilfiger, president and cofounder of JLo parent company Sweetface hopes to open JLo outposts in markets such as New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Miami.

67 and still wanting to be a mom (Go To Top)

     London: Romanian Adriana Iliescu who is the world's oldest mum after she gave birth at the age of 66, wants another baby. She revealed she would like another child as she will appear in the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest women ever to give birth at 66 years and 230 days old. "God willing, then yes, I would like another child. I sometimes wonder from where my strength comes from, even though I do not feel tired at all," she was quoted as saying.

Owen Wilson says it's easy to pick up girls at weddings (Go To Top)

     London: Actor Owen Wilson has claimed that it is always easier to pick up girls at wedding than any other occasion. The 'Wedding Crashers' star said that women get desperate for love at weddings and are easy pickings for men. "Girls are probably easier to pick up at weddings. Maybe they get a feeling that they need to hurry up - the bride is getting ahead. Or maybe it's the drink relaxing them!" femalefirst quoted him as saying to America's Rolling Stones. Wilson also said that he could pick up girls anywhere because of his fame, but finding out the right type of girl is a bit difficult. "It's gotten easier for me to meet girls as I've gotten more well-known, but whether they're the right type of girls is a tricky one," he said.

     London: Hollywood star Billy Bob Thornton, who split with Angelina Jolie in 2003, has said that he is proud of his ex-wife for adopting another baby after Maddox. "Gosh, she's been amazing these last few years and I'm so proud of her and happy for her. She loves Maddox more than life, so I'm really happy for her," the Sun quoted Bob as saying to Star magazine. The 'Mr and Mrs Smith' actress, who is rumoured to be dating 'Troy' star Brad Pitt these days, has recently adopted Ethiopian orphan Zahara Marley.
