Indira, Shastri handled Kashmir with 'dedication': RSS chief

Lucknow: RSS Chief KS Sudarshan has said that only Late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and his successor, Late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi handled the Kashmir issue with 'dedication'. He said that no Prime Minister with the exception of these two had the courage and conviction to firmly deal with Pakistan, as far as Kashmir was concerned. He said that only the 1965 and 1971 victory against Pakistan, the latter, which also led to the creation of Bangladesh, had in a way kept the country's morale high. ''No Indian Prime Minister except Indira Gandhi and to some extent Lal Bahadur Shastri, had the courage to teach Pakistan a lesson on their demand of Kashmir'', he said while addressing a function at Lucknow. He further said that independent India's first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru was responsible for all the ills plaguing the country. "Nehru should be held guilty for all the problems in the country," he added.

Netaji had to live in disguise till 1984 because of Nehru: Sudarshan (Go To Top)

Lucknow: RSS chief KS Sudarshan has said that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was alive till 1984. He said that Netaji was alive and had to live in disguise due to a conspiracy by Jawahar Lal Nehru and other Congress leaders. He said that the partition of the country in 1947 was also hatched by the country's first Prime Minister, Jawahar Lal Nehru, founder of Pakistan, Mohammed Ali Jinnah and the Viceroy of India at the time of independence, Lord Louis Mountbatten. India lost opportunities to solve issues with neighbours: Sudarshan (Go To Top)

Lucknow: Chief of the RSS, KS Sudarshan, on Sunday, said that Indian leaders have lost opportunities to solve problems with neighbouring countries. "There was just one Indira Gandhi who had some sort of clout. But whatever she did was to stay in power. That is why she imposed emergency later," he said while addressing RSS activists here. "When Pakistan was attacked, it was divided into two, one country was Pakistan and the other was Bangladesh. The leaders who came later never tried to solve the problems, though there were opportunities. But they never took advantage of the opportunities," he added. Training his guns on the parties claiming themselves to be secular ones, especially the ruling Congress, Sudarshan accused them of deliberately tarnishing the image of RSS as anti-Muslim. "From the beginning, since times of our founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, Rajjo Bhaiya, Guruji or Balasaheb, the Sangh has deliberately been portrayed as anti-Muslim by greedy and corrupt politicians. They think that by doing this they will get Muslim votes and that is why they have painted a bad picture of the Sangh," he further added.

"The new face of the Nehru family, the future of the Congress party, the future of India, young leader Rahul Gandhi...we are presenting to him this cake which has the blessing of people from all walks of life and from all communities," said Ramesh Dutta, a Congress party activist said. "We have gathered here to celebrate the birthday of our youth leader. He is the representative of the new generation in the party and a symbol of new thoughts for us. After this, we will also set up a blood camp," he added. "Yesterday we distributed clothes, blankets and other things in LNJP hospital by the hands of medical superintendent. Since yesterday we had been providing free aid to the poor people and we will continue this practice for the entire one week," he further added.

Congress finished fourth when state elections were last held. Born on June 19, 1970, Rajiv Gandhi's son and Indira Gandhi's grandson, both assassinated former Prime Ministers of India, the UK-educated Rahul has made numerous visits to the region and consolidated his already huge appeal there.
