Shoaib's attitude is his downfall, says Inzi

Bangalore: Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has said that Shoaib Akhtar's attitude to the game was not working in his favour and if not remedied, would continue to cause problems for him in the times to come. "The truth is, I personally have nothing against Shoaib. There is no doubt he is our best bowler and one capable of taking wickets and winning us matches. I don't care what he does off the field as long as he performs for the team. But the problem with him has been that he wants to play according to his own terms and conditions," The News quoted Inzamam as saying. "What I feel is, he wants to perform in one match and rest on its laurels for the next two. He is not there when the team needs him most. He lacks cricketing discipline. He wants to play on his own terms, which is unacceptable to me. Yes there have been occasions when I have told the selectors and Board I don't want him in the team because his behaviour has a bad influence on the younger players," Inzamam said. "But I again repeat there is no doubt I would like to have him in my team as he is a match winner. But he has to learn to play with discipline and according to the team requirements," the Pak captain added.

Sania exits from Miami WTA tournament (Go To Top)

New Delhi: After having good starts in three successive international tournaments, Sania Mirza made a very early exit as she lost to Maria Sanchez Lorenzo of Spain in the first round of the 3.1-million dollar Nadaq-100 Open WTA Tour tennis event in Miami (USA). The 18-year-old Hyderabad based Sania went down 2-6, 5-7 to Maria Sanchez in a match which lasted for 73 minutes. Sania was a wildcard entry for this tournament. The Indian failed to make her presence felt as she struggled with her serves committing eight doubles faults while firing just one ace. The seventy-seventh-ranked Indian failed to hold on to her serve in the first set and the two games she won were by breaking her opponent. In the second set, she committed five doubles faults and lost her serve thrice while managing to break Maria twice. Neha Uberoi, a player of Indian origin playing for USA, lost to Russia's Galina Voskoboeva 4-6, 2-6.
