Paswan reiterates demand for Muslim CM in Bihar

Patna: Reiterating his demand for a Muslim Chief Ministerial candidate in Bihar, Union Steel Minister and LJP supremo Ram Vilas Paswan, has accused Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav of using the minority as vote bank. Paswan told reporters here that his party referred a Muslim chief for the state. "We will neither take or give support to the Rashtriya Janata Dal. But for the good of the minorities of the state, we want that a Muslim becomes the state chief, there is a secular government and the assembly is not dissolved. That is why we are bowing down to give support to the Congress. We want that there be a stable government," Paswan said. Paswan said that he wanted to expose Yadav's party and the other so called secular forces. He also urged Congress to help form a secular coalition government under a Muslim state chief. The Congress has given a cold shoulder to Paswan's offer saying it would not sever ties with the RJD. Senior RJD leader, Ram Kripal Yadav, said that Paswan was getting desperate in his bid to keep his flock intact. "His party is breaking up, his legislators are running away and now he is making frantic efforts to keep them together. He took his proposal to the Congress party chief, he has got an answer. The proposal has been rejected, there is absolutely no weight in his claims, it had to be rejected," Ram Kripal Yadav, National General Secretary of RJD, said.

Astrologers predict full term for Manmohan Govt (Go To Top)

New Delhi: Astrologers contacted in the Indian capital have predicted that Manmohan Singh will serve out his full term of five years as the country's Prime Minister. Bharat Bhushan Padmadeo, an astrologer based in New Delhi, says Singh would be in the saddle for over six years. The country might face a mid-term poll, but stars are likely to favour Singh's Congress party. "The Congress (party) as such is going to stay. It will continue to be in command for another 6-7 years," Padmadeo said. "Meanwhile, we will have a mid-term poll. But India as a country, I find will be very stable," he added. The influence of planetary movements and numerical calculations are responsible for what will happen in the near future, says Manoranjan Prusty, another astrologer. Prusty feels Singh, whose astrologically influenced numerical calculation comes to a lucky one, has a bright future. "Even though he did not have the political background, he became successful because number 1 he belongs to the sun," Prusty said. He adds that Singh's prospects are bright due to his astrological chart and he would retain office for the entire five year term. "It gives him name, fame, power, position and authority. So all of a sudden he came to power and because Manmohan Singh added "Doctor" to his name, it became more favourable. As far as my knowledge is concerned, he became PM (prime minister) and calculation says he will be able to completehis tenure," Prusty said. Singh, possibly India's unlikeliest prime minister, has neither glamour nor legacy on his side. Yet after a dramatic twist of events last May, the former finance minister took over as the first non-Hindu prime minister of the world's largest democracy. The 71-year-old economist, who threw open the Indian economy in the early 1990s after decades of socialist control, came to the top job after Congress leader Sonia Gandhi renounced her claim to protect the party from attacks over her Italian birth. Analysts feel Singh's mild accommodative stance has worked well in bringing together fractious allies. Indian astrologers base their predictions on "Panchaanga", the ancient Indian art of calculating planetary movements to study the influence of planets and its consequences on one's fate. Of late these astrologers have given predictions varying from share market trends to political repercussions after the September 11 attacks.
