Kylie begins her battle against cancer (Go To Top)

     Melbourne: Aussie singing sensation Kylie Minogue who was diagnosed with breast cancer has started treatment at a private Catholic hospital in Melbourne. While fans of the star are rallying to support her, sales of her latest music album and downloads have gone up since the news of her cancer became public. Meanwhile Cancer survivor Delta Goodrem also plans to share an emotional message of hope with Kylie, as the latter begins her battle with the disease. Delta, who made a remarkable comeback after being diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma almost two years ago, said she was writing a personal letter to Kylie. "I just adore her like everyone else," she was quoted by the Herald Sun as saying. "It would be so hard for her, cancelling the tour and everything else. I've been there. I'm thinking of her," she added. Delta, who only days ago launched a new website to help teenage cancer battlers, said she would share her experience of having survived cancer and offer her best wishes.

Most American women want to look like Oprah Winfrey (Go To Top)

     London: Popular talk show host Oprah Winfrey has been voted the female most American women want to look like. According to a survey carried out by the magazine Allure and reported by contactmusic.com, billionaire Oprah is now the envy of most women across the United States. Winfrey was followed by Hollywood actresses Sophia Loren and Meryl Streep in the popularity stakes. "Women don't have to be an impossible creature. (They are saying) no, I won't be Giselle Bundchen, and that's okay," Linda Wells, the magazine's editor, was quoted as saying.

George Lucas wanted to do only one `Star Wars' movie (Go To Top)

     London: George Lucas of Star Wars fame has said that he only wanted to do one and not six sci-fi movies, and that one was focussed on highlighting the tragedy of Darth Vader. After six Star Wars films spread and screened over a period of almost 30 years, Lucas was quoted by The Sun as saying that in 1975, he was only thinking of "A Saturday matinee serial." "It was designed to be the tragedy of Darth Vader. It starts with this monster throwing everyone around, half way through you realise that the villain is actually a man, and that the hero is his son, and in the end the villain turns into the hero inspired by his son. We broke it up because I didn't have the money to do that movie - it would have been five hours long," Lucas was quoted as saying.

Natalie Portman is keeping her locks (Go To Top)

     Washington: 'Star Wars' star Natalie Portman, who shaved her head for her role in 'V for Vendetta', says she loves her hair so much that she has stored her nipped locks in a bag. "It might seem gross but I loved my hair," Femalefirst quoted her as saying. According to reports, after shaving her head, the 23-year-old actress is apparently being mistaken for Irish singer Sinead O'Connor. "Natalie is being mistaken for Sinead O'Connor," a source was quoted by the report as saying.

Sean Connery has the sexiest voice in showbiz, reveals poll (Go To Top)

     London: A poll has revealed that former James Bond Star Sean Connery has the sexiest voice in showbiz. Former Take That singer Robbie Williams follows him at second place with Welsh crooner Tom Jones coming in third, reports The Sun. Among the females, broadcaster Mariella Frostrup topped the list followed by actress Joanna Lumley in second place.

Pele planning sequel to 'Escape to Victory' (Go To Top)

     London: Brazilian soccer legend Pele is reportedly making plans to make a sequel to the 1981 World War II movie 'Escape to Victory'. While the original starred Pele, Michael Caine, Hollywood superstar Sylvester Stallone, and former Argentina and Spurs player Ossie Ardiles and late England captain Bobby Moore, it's not yet decided as to who all would be signed up for the sequel. Pele, is apparently holding talks with Freddie Fields, producer of the original film, The Sun quoted a Variety magazine report as saying. "I always think that I would have become an actor if I hadn't been a soccer player," Pele was quoted as saying.

George Lucas wanted to make a Star Wars comedy (Go To Top)

     London: Star Wars director George Lucas has said that he always wanted to make a spoof of the Star Wars series. He said that from the very beginning itself, he wanted to do two versions of the movie, including a comedy and also wanted to do an extra take in this regard. "I've always wanted to do two versions of the movie, right from the very beginning I decided I wanted to do this and I never really got to do it. I wanted to do an extra take, which was a comedy take, so that then I could cut together the whole movie as a comedy," The Sun quoted him as saying. "There have been a lot of great send ups and parodies. It's fun. We used to say we were just making the movies so they could be parodied in MAD magazine, that's the only reason we're here," he added.

Liz Hurley to star in a new action comedy (Go To Top)

     London: Hollywood beauty Elizabeth Hurley is all set to star in a new action comedy. The actress who had recently announced her plans to take a break from acting to spend more time with her son Damien, will now be seen in the film with Lucy Liu, reports IOL.com In her last movie 'Method' released in 2004 Liz played a real- life 19th century serial killer Belle Gunness, and takes on the characteristics of the character both on-screen and off. Hurley's latest movie is slated for release next year.

Chaplin tramp suit fetches 3100 pounds at auction (Go To Top)

     London: The tramp suit that made Charlie Chaplin famous on screen and became his trademark fetched 3,100 pounds at an auction in Devon. The black suit, sold with a bowler hat and boots, was used in the 1914 movie Kid Auto Races. Forty six year old John Cabello, who outbid a Texan and another American for the Chaplin suit, said that he bought the suit despite not being a Chaplin fan, as he believed it to be a good bargain, reports The BBC. Cabello, who now plans to put the suit on display at his shop 'Parade Antiques' in Plymouth along with one of Reichmarshall Herman Goering's uniform, says that he will be happy if Chaplin's uniform draws people to his shop. He also plans to prepare a glass case at his shop to contain Goering's and Chaplin's suit. "Everything has a price, but if it draws people into the shop I'm happy," the report quoted him as saying.

Bart Simpson becomes LA town Mayor (Go To Top)

     London: Nancy Cartwright, the voice behind Bart Simpson in the cartoon 'The Simpsons' has been elected as the Mayor of Northridge in Los Angeles. The 47-year-old mother of two is now determined to make her mark in the political arena and plans to clamp down on rampaging youths immediately. "Everyone finds it funny that Bart is the new mayor. I can influence people because I'm Bart Simpson. I live in a nice neighbourhood. But down the road there's drugs and gangs, stealing and illiteracy," Female first quoted her as saying.

Britney to meditate in her mansion (Go To Top)

     New York: Pop princess Britney Spears is reportedly getting more into spirituality, and is building a prayer room in her mansion where she can meditate. Spears, who is pregnant with her first child is a staunch Kabbalah follower and is currently overseeing construction work at her new Malibu home. "My mom and I are going to start talking about ideas this week for the baby's room. She is so gifted in decorating and interior design and I'm grateful to have her help," Britney writes on her website. "I've also been thinking of different ideas for the prayer and meditation room. Everything is going so well lately - it literally brings me to my knees," she adds.
