George Michael splashes out 25,000 pounds on Di's portrait (Go To Top)

     London: Singer George Michael has reportedly splashed out 25,000 pounds on a portrait of Princess Diana, made by a London-based artist. Michael fell in love with the picture by Stella Vine, which depicts the late princess in an evening gown with the words "Murdered? Pregnant? Embalmed?" in the background, and decided to buy it. "He saw it on my website. I was inspired to paint it after reading Diana's body was embalmed, destroying any possible evidence she may have been pregnant," Hello magazine quoted Stella as saying.

Madonna uses horses as fashion accessories (Go To Top)

     London: Social critic and author Camille Paglia has said that Madonna got injured while riding a horse last month because she uses horses as fashion accessories. Paglia said that she had predicted the accident after seeing the pop singer's Vogue magazine covershoot, in which she was posing on a horse holding its reins awkwardly and incorrectly. "Riding is not just another routine challenge she can master through sheer willpower. Along with physical kills, riding requires relaxation and self-subordination, an intuitive opening to the horse. She will surely persist and may well triumph as a rider. But until then, let's hope she avoids the facile, disrespectful use of horses as props and fashion statements," femalefirst quoted her as saying.

Naomi Campbell's catfight with Brazilian model (Go To Top)

London: Supermodel Naomi Campbell, who punched actress Yvonne Scio after a row last month, reportedly got into an argument with Brazilian model Marcelle Bittar recently. According to the Sun quoting sources, the two bumped into one another at Sao Paolo's Hotel Fasano. Bittar said she had a bone to pick with Campbell, who offered to kick Bittar's backside. Security people finally decided that Bitter must be at fault and removed her from the premises. Campbell's representative, however, said that Bittar was the aggressor and Campbell merely walked demurely away.

Mrs and Mr Pitt warn Brad to stay away from Jolie (Go To Top)

      London: Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt's parents have reportedly warned their son to keep his distance from Angelina Jolie because of her failed marriages. According to The Daily Mail, Bill and Jane Pitt are still close to Brad's estranged wife Jennifer Aniston have reportedly told him to cool his relationship with the twice-divorced screen beauty. Earlier this year, the pair were quoted as saying they had met Angelina and thought she seemed "nice".But the actress is said to be hurt by their latest comments, reports Femalefirst. "Angelina thought she had got on well with his parents but then they told him he had moved too fast with a woman who had a bad marriage record," a source was quoted by the Daily Mail, as saying. "Brad and Angelina, who met on the set of 'Mr and Mrs Smith' last year, are already reportedly living together after Brad transformed his bachelor pad into a family home," he added. The actor has also been spotted playing 'dad' to Angelina's two adopted children, Maddox and Zahara.

Swiss to have 'singing loos' for men (Go To Top)

      London: The Swiss Government has installed 'singing urinals' in public loos, in a bid to help diagnose prostate problems. According to the Sun, if a man pees high and hard enough to hit sensors he will hear the footie anthem "Ole, ole, ole, ole", and if not an automated voice tells him he should seek treatment, as he is showing signs of having some problem. The devices have been fitted in more than 350 loos in the country.

Keira Knightley admonished for looking too attractive (Go To Top)

     London: Hollywood beauty Keira Knightley was reportedly admonished by directors of her new movie Pride and Prejudice, to refrain from pouting her lips, as it made her look too atractive for the role of Elizabeth Bennet. According to Hello magazine, Director Joe Wright apparently ordered her to keep her alluring lips under strict control. "He kept saying how Elizabeth couldn't look pretty. I was banned from pouting. The director and crew would be on permanent pout watch. Any sign and they'd scream at me, 'Pout alert! Pout alert!'," the actress said. Keira admitted that remaining tight-lipped proved something of a challenge, as she tends to pucker up involuntarily whenever the cameras start rolling. "I honestly don't do it to be sexy," revealed the performer. "I do it when I'm concentrating and I sort of push my lips out. I always think it makes me look kind of constipated."

Garner heckled by Vartan's fans (Go To Top)

     London: Hollywood actress Jennifer Garner has been heckled by fans of ex-lover Michael Vartan, after he took a sudden exit from her show 'Alias'. The angry reportedly believe that their favourite star, who played Vaughn in the hit drama, was forced to leave because Jennifer felt "uncomfortable" working with him after marrying Ben Affleck. Hence, the Vartan's fans have reportedly expressed their resentment at the 'Alias' beauty by sending round a letter full of false allegations about her. The memo wrongly claims that Jennifer banned anyone on the 'Alias' set from mentioning Vartan's name and insisted everyone must be polite to Ben, reports Femalefirst as told by New York Post. The letter also alleges that cast and crew were ordered to applaud Jennifer at the end of every scene, but no one is allowed to speak to her or even look at her when she is going to her trailer. However, an 'Alias' spokesperson has denied the letter's claims, saying that the rumour reported by the New York Post was 'so not true.' "This letter is so not true! All of this misinformation is being put out by Vartan's fans who are angry about what happened with his character. Ben has only been to the set twice in the past year, and, of course, people say Michael Vartan's name - they love him," said the spokesperson.

     Jaipur: Cancer patients in Jaipur are turning to natural therapy to fight the deadly menace. Therapists say that the juice of wheat grass cures cancers as the anti-oxidants in it fights cancer cells. Therapists also claim that the organic product has no side effects and its efficacy is above 50 percent. "It is supposed to destroy cancerous cells selectively. Like in some other procedures both the cancer cells and the healthy cells are also destroyed, whereas, in this the healthy cells are promoted. It brings up the immunity and so since a very long time we've been using wheat grass therapy along with homeopathy of course to fight cancer and lots of patients we are getting from all over Rajasthan and even out of the state," said Alok Mehara, a wheat grass therapist at the SN Hospital. The response from the patients has also been quite good. "After taking wheat grass I'm hale and hearty, as you see me, and I think I would advice everyone to take this juice instead of the normal tonics that people go after. I think this works miracles," said Padma, a cancer patien. Wheat grass juice for cancer treatment was first used in the US, by a doctor Dr. N. Virgis, who himself was a cancer patient. Wheat grass used for cancer treatment is grown organically under controlled temperature.

Chilli end for sodomy in Pak (Go To Top)

      Lahore: Three men in Pakistan had to face a chilli(ng) punishment when a local jirga decided to stuff their backs with red chilli powder, after they were found guilty of sodomising a 14-year-old boy. The incident took place on Friday in Abdul Hakim village, around 60 km from Multan. Quoting village sources, the Daily Times reported that the three men - Punnu, Kala and Rashid alias Kalia - sexually assaulted the boy Muhammad Yasin in a village hotel on Thursday, and when the boy resisted, they forced powdered red-chillies into his anus. After the victim raised an alarm, the people of the area reached the scene and overpowered the men. The next day they were brought before the jirga, which found them guilty and ordered the `chilli punishment'. Later, their faces were blackened, and they were paraded through the village on a donkey. A local police officer was saying: "We visited the village to take action according to the law. But, the people of the area refused to lodge a complaint, and said they had resolved the dispute on their own."

Keira Knightley suffers hair nightmare (Go To Top)

     London: British actress Keira Knightley has suffered a hair nightmare when frequent styling for a quick succession of roles in her upcoming film Pride and Prejudice, damaged her locks beyond repair. "When I was working on Pride and Prejudice, I had to go over to have my hair looked at for another role. I'd been really busy filming, so my agent filled them in that my hair had been peroxided and was generally very weak," Femalefirst quoted her as saying. The 20-year-old actress was forced to cut her hair, when it started falling out in clumps during filming for her new movie, Pride and Prejudice, but wishes to grow it long again in the future. "I was in the make-up chair at 4am. I was so tired I actually fell asleep, and two hours later I woke up to see all these perming curlers fastened to my head. My hair felt totally hideous, like the most brittle straw. By the time it I had got home and saw my mum, the whole of my fringe just dropped off into my lap. They then needed to do a colour-test on my hair. They took one strand and the whole hair just shrivelled up and disappeared. It needed completely cutting off. What I really want now is long hair," she added.

Uma Thurman's day out with ex hubby and kids (Go To Top)

     London: 'KillBill' actress Uma Thurman still shares a good rapport with her ex husband Ethan Hawke. The two were rportedly seen enjoying a day out with their kids in New York. Although the couple split in 2003, with the children going to live with their mum, they have clearly put any past differences behind them when it comes to being with the youngsters together, reports Hello magazine. While Uma is clearly close to her kids, the 34-year-old Pulp Fiction star has admitted that being a single mum, even a movie star one, can be a bit solitary. "I'd love to share advice with other single mothers, like Angelina Jolie," she confesses. "But it's such an odd thing being a movie star parent. I find there are not many people that you have things in common with."
