Tourists flock to Manali to ride snow scooters

Tourists in Manali in Himachal Pradesh enjoying snow scooter ride.

Manali: A massive number of tourists these days are flocking to Kullu- Manali to enjoy both snow and ride on snow scooters. Manali, a tourist resort, is enveloped in a thick white blanket of snow. And to enjoy this snow a huge number of tourists from across the country are flocking here. They are not only enjoying the snow and the chilly weather but also a ride on the snow scooters. A ride on these scooters is turning out to be a popular activity among these tourists. "The scooter ride was amazing. I really enjoyed it. I haven't gone abroad but I feel that its something like abroad," said Sachin, a tourist.

The snow scooters are not cheap as one costs somewhere between five and six lakhs of rupees. These were brought to Manali from the European countries a few years back. They have also provided employment to the local people. But the owners say that they are facing certain problems. "For the past ten to fifteen years people are enjoying this snow sport. When we started we had just two to three scooters with us. But now we have nineteen to twenty scooters. The local people are also benefited from this sport as it provides employment to the local people. But we want a little co-operation from the government. The roads are badly covered with snow and as a result the tourist cannot reach here. We want the State government to take this matter into consideration so that tourists can come here and the local people also get more employment," said Gokul Chand, a local snow scooter owner.
