Melbourne: Catholic priest John Sidney Denham has been jailed for almost 20 years on child sex charges involving 25 children in New South Wales between 1968 and 1986. According to The Australian, the sentence was handed down in Sydney's Downing Centre District Court today, with the judge saying
many victims were left feeling terrified and Denham himself describing his behaviour as 'evil'. The 67-year-old was sentenced to a total of 19 years and 10 months.
His non-parole sentence of 13 years and 10 months will make him eligible for release
from prison in June 2022, taking into account time already served in custody. |
