Nevada (US): Upset Hindus have asked for the immediate withdrawal of some statues showing images of Hindu deities sold by a Virginia (USA) based firm Sacred Source, calling it inappropriate depiction. Acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA)
today, argued that these deities were highly revered in Hinduism and inappropriate
usage of Hindu deities or concepts for commercial or other agenda was not okay
as it hurt the devotees. Hinduism was the oldest and third largest religion of
the world with about one billion adherents and a rich philosophical thought and
it should not be taken lightly. Symbols of any faith, larger or smaller, should
not be mishandled, Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism,
stressed. Meanwhile Bhavna Shinde of Forum for Hindu Awakening, in a communiqué
to Sacred Source, listed some of the objectionable statues and added: This is
denigrating to Hinduism and hurting to Hindus worldwide who reverently worship
the Deities. We urge you to look into this immediately, and remove these statues
from your website and sale, to prevent further hurting of Hindus' religious sentiments.
"Sacred Source", based in Crozet near Charlottesville (Virginia), whose tagline
