American Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (AGPC) Coordinator Pritpal Singh said they have collectively requested the Akal Takht to implement the original Nanakshahi Calendar-2003 by following the due process. “According to the original Nanakshahi Calendar 2003, today, we have assembled at Gurudwara Dera Sahib to celebrate Shaheedi Diwas of the fifth Sikh guru, Guru Arjun Dev. A large number of devotees gathered for the procession to pay their obeisance to Guru Granth Sahib. The arrangements were made by Pakistan Sikh Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC). Devotees believed that Guru Arjun Dev's sacrifice taught many meaningful motives to the Sikh community. “On this very day the fifth Sikh guru, Guru Arjun Dev scarified his life and became the source of inspiration for Sikh community. Through his martyrdom he gave meaning and motive to the life of Sikhs. He taught us to live without expectations or seeking the result and maintaining faith in God," Amarinder Singh, a devotee, said.
