Nevada (US):Sri Siva Vishnu Temple in Lanham (Maryland, USA), a prominent Hindu temple of America, has honored Hindu
statesman Rajan Zed for his services to the community. Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, was garlanded; a shawl was presented to him; and
Sanskrit mantras were recited by Temple priests to bless him during his visit
on May 25. Ms. Mythili Bachu, Temple President, was also present. Rajan Zed is
one of the panelists for "On Faith", a prestigious interactive conversation on
religion produced jointly by Newsweek and washingtonpost.com. He has been awarded
"World Interfaith Leader Award" by National Association of Interchurch and Interfaith
Families. Sri Siva Vishnu Temple, one of the largest in western hemisphere, incorporates
Mayan, Pallava, Vijayanagara, Kerala and the South Canara styles of temple architecture.
It was built with the blessings of the Shankaracharyas, under the direction of
eminent temple architect Dr. Ganapati Sthapati, and houses several Sannidhis with
deities like Andal, Ayyappa, Durga, Ganesha, Hanuman, Karthikeya, Krishna, Lakshmi,
Navagrahas, Parvathi, Rama, Saraswathi, Siva, Sudarsana, Venkateshwara, and Vishnu. |
