Moily announces National Litigation Policy
New Delhi: Union Law and Justice Minister M. Veerappa Moily on Wednesday launched the National Litigation Policy to reduce pendency and delay in cases in which the Centre is a party. The National Litigation Policy aims at reducing government litigation in courts so that the valuable court time is spent on resolving other pending cases so as to achieve the goal in national legal mission. The new policy is expected to reduce average pendency time from 15 years to 3 years. The policy focuses on core issues like litigation, managing and conducting litigation in a cohesive manner. The policy also ensures that bad cases are not needlessly pursued while good cases are won. It ensures that competent and sensitive legal persons represent cases.
