Adulterated dairy products seized in Punjab
Patiala (Punjab):Officials in Punjab have seized huge quantities of spurious diary products from storehouses here on Wednesday. Acting on a tip-off, officials from the state administration and police raided two storehouses stacked with fake diary products. "While raiding two places, approximately around 200 quintals of spurious diary product and ingredients for making fake sweets have been seized. This is a great achievement. Adulteration putting to risk many lives," said Y.S. Banga, Health Officer, Patiala. No arrests have been made so far. Action has been taken against food adulteration and unauthorised storage of food grains and other essentials in recent weeks across the country as authorities stepped up a drive to check spiralling prices in the wake of a prolonged dry spell as monsoon eluded June-July and the shortfall in rains compensated very late for the summer sowing.
