Malaysian hockey team relieved to have three night matches in Delhi CWG
New Delhi: After struggling due to heat during the practice session, Malaysians hockey team manager M. Gobinathan has expressed a sign of relief after it was decided that out of four matches, three would be played at night. Yesterday, the Malaysian team held an afternoon practice match against South Africa and were thrashed 2-6. The players reportedly wilted under the sweltering heat and many asked to be substituted. “Judging by the way our players struggled in the heat, it is good that three matches are at night. I am not saying that it will be easier to win with night matches but it will help,” The star quoted Gobinathan, as saying. Malaysia ’s night matches are against hosts India , Pakistan and Scotland . Their only afternoon match would be against Australia . On Friday, Malaysia came back from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 with Canada . Before coming to New Delhi , they had two friendly matches with New Zealand , drawing the first 2-2 and winning the second 3-0 in Kuala Lumpur.
