New Zealand squad is happy with facilities, cautious about health
New Delhi:The Commonwealth Games squad from New Zealand have said that they are satisfied with the facilities but they are careful about their health aspects. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Chris Pilone, the coach of the Kiwi athletes, said that the runners are all prepared but they are taking care to avoid falling ill. Meanwhile, 21-year-old Nikki Hamblin, the 800m runner, said that she was quite happy with the accommodation and other facilities provided at the Games Village in New Delhi . "So far everything that I have seen is fine. You know our apartment is fine. There is lots of space in our apartment, which is nice; we are not completely on top of each other. And food hall, you know, great food. And yeah! Everything I have seen so far is great," said Hamblin. The English-born Hamblin, a middle distance runner, was granted New Zealand citizenship in 2009. New Zealand has sent a team to every Commonwealth Games since the first in 1930 and at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne , New Zealand had an overall total of 529 medals (124 Gold, 168 Silver and 237 Bronze).
