Indian athlete Rani Yadav fails dope test
New Delhi:Indian athlete Rani Yadav has tested positive for the banned substance Nandrolone. She participated in the 20-kilometre walk but did not win a Coomonwealth Games medal. Yadav, who placed sixth in the women's 20-kilometre walk last Saturday, tested positive for the anabolic agent 19-Norandrosterone. After two Nigerian sprinters failed dope test at the XIXth Commonwealth Games, CGF President Michael Fennell announced on Wednesday that one Indian athlete has flunked dope test during the ongoing sporting extravaganza, but declined to disclose the name. "We have received another positive result. The notice has been issued to the athlete and also the chef de mission. We are not declaring the name now. As per the anti-doping practice, we can only publicise the name after the athlete receives the notification," said Fennel, while addressing the customary morning press conference here today. "We have no confirmation that the athlete has received the notice. I am not able to give you the name now, but can only tell that it is in athletics and the country is India ," he added. Nigerian sprinter Samuel Okon, who finished sixth in the 110m hurdles final, was tested positive on Tuesday for the banned stimulant methylhexanamine. Nigeria 's women's 100m gold medal winner Osayemi Oludamola had also tested positive on Monday for the same substance.
