Chinese delegation meets PM to set agenda for Wen Jiabao's visit
New Delhi:A Chinese delegation led by Zhou Yongkang, a member of China's influential Politburo Standing Committee in charge of political, legal and legislative agenda, met Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday in national Capital to lay the groundwork for the forthcoming visit of Premier Wen Jiabao. Zhou arrived here for the high-level talks on Sunday. Zhou is understood to have indicated that India's concerns over stapled visas issued for the people of Jammu and Kashmir will be taken up during the India visit of Jiabao next month, according to reports. This was apparently his reaction when Left leaders Prakash Karat, Sitaram Yechury (both CPI-M), AB Bardhan, D Raja (CPI) and Debabrata Biswas and G Deverajan (Forward Bloc) met the visiting Chinese party leaders and raised the issue of stapled visa. The boundary dispute was also discussed by them. The boundary issue was raised by Bardhan. Zhou reportedly hinted that the China wants to settle the border dispute at the earliest. "We want to settle it. We don't want to hand over the problem to next generation," sources quoted Yongkang as saying. On stapled visas, the Chinese leaders said their prime minister is visiting India and he will deal with the issue.
