Motorcycle rally in Kerala to sensitise coastal inhabitants
Kochi: Motorcycle rallyists from Indian Navy and Coast Guard started a four-day motorcycle rally to sensitise coastal population on Tuesday. The rally was flagged off by Rear Admiral S S Jamwal, Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command. The team will proceed as two groups, one covering northern coast and other down south. During the rally the personnel will be engaged in various awareness activities. "Two teams have been constituted. They will be interacting with the people; local people, fishermen, customs, minor ports, local police and they will sentries coastal population about coastal security. We have also made pamphlets and stickers, which they will be distributing to all," said R.K. Loshali, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Coast Guard headquarters, fort Kochi. The participants in the rally would provide information to fishermen on transmission of distress alert, reporting of suspected and illegal activities at sea to coastal security agencies and check for infiltrators.
