Michelle Obama visits Delhi's National Crafts Museum
New Delhi: US First Lady Michelle Obama visited the National Handicrafts and Handloom Museum at Pragati Maidan complex here on Monday, where she witnessed India's rich cultural diversity. Michelle Obama arrived here soon after paying respects at Mahatma Gandhi's memorial at the Rajghat, while US President Obama went straight to Hyderabad House for a summit meeting with Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. Security agencies carried out checks, including sniffer dogs at the museum and village complex in a run-up to the high profile visit. She visited the crafts demonstration fair designed especially for her to take a glimpse of the Indian culture, and its arts and crafts. Michelle Obama also wore bangles presented by craftsman at the fair. She interacted with the school students, listened to live traditional music and talked to the artisans and craftsmen at the fair, where she spent around two hours.
