New Delhi:
Visiting Vietnam Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan met External Affairs Minister
S M Krishna and the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha L K Advani here today.
Doan is also scheduled to meet her Indian counterpart Vice President Hamid Ansari
at Hyderabad House in the evening. Doan is expected to discuss a wide range of
bilateral issues and other regional issues. Expansion of development in economic
ties and India's participation in upcoming ASEAN summit are other issues that
would likely be considered. UN reforms and other economic issues would also be
discussed during Doan's visit. Doan is in the country predominantly to discuss
economic ties. She is expected to make a strong pitch for attracting Indian investment.
The Vietnam Vice President will address captains of Indian industry at the Federation
House and will also meet UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. On Friday, Doan will lay
a wreath at Rajghat, the memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation,
on the occasion of his 140th birth anniversary. She will visit Agra and Gaya on
Saturday and will leave for Bangkok on Sunday afternoon. Doan arrived here on
a five-day visit last evening.
