Surat-Bombay 'Flying Rani' train derails, no casualties reported
Surat: The Surat-Bombay Flying Rani derailed near here in the wee hours of Sunday. However, there was no report of casualty in the accident that took place on the outskirts of the city, between Surat and Udhna stations. The mishap has thrown off the schedules of many other trains plying on the busy Mumbai-Ahmedabad route. The work of removing the derailed coaches from the tracks is being carried on. Six coaches derailed, including two AC compartments. The incident took place soon after the Surat-Mumbai train left Surat station in the morning. The express train was cancelled and track repair work is on. Traffic on one side resumed after nearly six hours. Most of the trains to and from Mumbai were running late by 30-40 minutes. An inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
