Over time, she came to be worshipped as an incarnation of Goddess Durga. The god woman allows her followers to kiss and hug her. Resentment has been registerd by the civil society against what is being described as indecent behaviour.

In India, godmen and godwomen are believed to possess spiritual powers to dissolve man's inscrutable problems and grant his desires.

But now in contrast, lascivious photos of Radhe Maa in flamboyant style and costumes in coordinating colours are lavishly circulating on electronic media these days especially after she got into litigation. There has been different opinions among the saints as well about her divine status and the reported style of blessing too.

The godwman hit the newspaper and TV headlines when she was named in a case under the Dowry Prohibition Act by a woman from Kandivali. According to the complaint, she sided with the complainant's husband and his relatives to force her bring more dowry from her parents. The case was registered on July 18 against Radhe Maa and six others for harassing the wman for dowry, Kandivali (W) police said. No arrests have been made.

The complainant's husband and family had been ardent devotees of Radhe Maa and the complainant, after marriage, was also persuaded by the in-laws to visit the ashram regularly and therefore the role Radhe Maa reportedly cropped up as a mediator in their family disputes. The complainant, Nikki Gupta, of Kandivali, where the case has been filed, got married to Nakul Gupta, a chartered accountant and resident of Borivali, in 2012, following an affair.

Radhe Maa claims to have devotees across a wide spectrum of Mumbai's reality celebes. Chhoti Maa and Talli Baba are Radhe Maa's close aides. (Call, Mumbai: 9820969020)
