Ganesh Chaturthi: Idol immersion in Mumbai under drones, copters' surveillance

processions of Ganesh visarjan, a ceremonial farewell to the most widely worshipped God of the metropolis, crisscrossed Mumbai streets on Sunday, the
final day of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival this year.
There were no incidents, no mishaps this year in Mumbai during the 10-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival and the final idol immersion with sounds of dhol, tasha, kartal and other musical instruments. The immersion of Ganesh idols took place mainly at Girgaun Chowpatty, Juhu beach, Dadar, Madh jetty, Powai lake and Marve. All the beaches were decked
up and barricaded. Drones were used in the city for watch and vigilance on the occasion, while the Coast Guard helicopters were put on duty along the beaches. With sniffer dogs, anti-sabotage checks were done on the main
procession routes.
Over 50 roads were closed to ensure smooth processions on the immersion routes.
The idol immersion is bidding an emotional farewell to Lord Ganesh who returns to his abode in the heavens after being the guest of the devotees during the festival starting with his birthday.
