Patient dies as security officials prevent his entry into hospital upon PM visit
Chandigarh:In a tragic incident a 32-yr-old man died here on Tuesday, after he was reportedly refused to gain entry in a hospital prior to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s scheduled visit to the city. According to reports,
the patient from Ambala, Sumit Prakash, was being rushed for emergency treatment
to Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) hospital,
when security officials stopped him. Manmohan Singh was in the city for a day-long
visit to address the Conference of the Chief Ministers, State Ministers (Tribal
Development and Social Welfare Department) and State Ministers (Forests). He also
attended a special convocation at his alma mater, Panjab University , where he
was honoured with the degree of Doctor of Law (Honoris Causa). Meanwhile, the
Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has said that the Prime Minister is saddened by
the incident. A probe has also been ordered into the incident.
