Glasgow court sentences Mohantys' son's murderer Christopher Miller
Jalandhar: Devender and Suman Mohanty, parents of the Indian naval officer, Kunal Mohanty who was murdered in a racial attack in UK, expressed appreciation over the 18-year jail term for their son's murderer. Twenty-five-year-old Christopher Miller was convicted of the racist murder of Mohanty. Mohanty was confronted by Miller in central Glasgow on the evening of March 27, 2009. Expressing satisfaction Devender Mohanty said the sentencing was awarded without too much of delay. "You can easily imagine within these seven months they have done everything. And an individual has been penalized. Yes, I know my son will not come back. I am happy that something has been done," he said. However, Suman Mohanty said she wished her son's murderer was sentenced to death. "I know my son is not going to come back. But this sort of criminals, they should be hanged. Now there is no death punishment in England. But I wish it was there," she added.
