Kolkata:CID's Economic Offences Wing has recovered antique idols stolen from a village temple in Thiruvarurur district of Tamil Nadu, police said on Friday. "Yesterday we were successful in nabbing two accused persons connected with the idol theft case. And we also recovered seven idols, antique idols also," said Thilagavathi, ADGP, Economic Offences Wing-CID, Chennai. The seven antique idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses were recovered on Thursday and are believed to be worth millions of rupees in the international market. Acting on a tip off, officials belonging to the economic offences wing intercepted two suspects carrying gunny bags and recovered idols from the duo. During interrogation, both informed that they planned to sell the idols in the international market. They also revealed that they had a tie-up with a Chennai based antique idols showroom owner who used to buy stolen idols from them.
