BJP shutdown evokes a mixed response in Delhi
New Delhi: The shutdown call given by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) against spiralling prices of essential commodities evoked mixed response in Delhi. Holding placards and raising slogans against the city government, BJP activists walked down the streets of the city to demand a curb on inflation. "We will continue your (commonman's) fight always in this way until the increased fares are withdrawn. We will continue with our agitation until sugar scam in the country is investigated, injustice of power companies is controlled and preparations to increase prices of water is stopped," said Harshvardhan, BJP leader. However, schools, government offices and other institutions functioned normally. On Thursday, Leader of Opposition Vijay Kumar Malhotra charged the Sheila Dikshit Government with being least concerned about the commonman's troubles.
