TRS chief given saline as health deteriorates
Medak (Andhra Pradesh): Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K Chandrasekhar Rao was given saline here today after his health deteriorated following his decision to fast unto death. Rao was earlier scheduled to sit on a fast unto death on Sunday, but the state police arrested him the same day while he was on his way to Siddipet in Medak District. He was administered saline by the doctors this morning at the government hospital as per the directives of the Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission, claimed officials. The TRS has described the event as a do-or-die battle to achieve the long pending demand for a separate Telangana state. Rao, representing Mehboob Nagar constituency in the Lok Sabha, had warned both the Central and state governments would be responsible for any further consequences. He also alleged that people of Andhra region had grabbed both government and assigned lands allotted to weaker sections in Telangana region. His announcement was criticised by the Congress party and the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Both said Rao was creating a wedge between the people of different regions.
